Awful mad things a mate of my older brother had one the motor used to smoke like a woodbine the thing was lethal around corners you actually had to lean out like a sidecar, it was slow, noisy, cold and handled like a pig on a roller skate and I love them.

There was a chap in Sunbury (near me) who used to slot a GSXR1100 lump into Smart cars. Saw one once as it screamed past me on a bypass. Kinda the same idea...brutally fast in a straight line but useless everywhere else. Bet that Bond Bug pulls some amazing wheelies though...

Brefits garage on Nuthall road Nottingham were an agent for Reliant. At the time I lived on Nuthall road just down from the garage. Me and my kid brother used to walk to the shops and pass there but as a young boy they looked space ship like. We thought they were Fantastic looking things, my Dad was mates of the garage owner and he gave us a run around the block in one. We only touched 40mph on Western boulevard and 30mph on Nuthall road, but we thought we were flying 🤣

If Aardy350 hadn't heard of a Bond Bug he's not gonna have a scooby what a Woodbine is I've always really fancied one of the bike engined Smart Cars, I think it'd be like a 4 wheel version the Ducati Hypermotard I had for years, totally impractical for pretty much anything but absolute balls tingling fun

Yonks ago I had a Suzuki SC100 (whizzkid, remember them?). Tiny little thing but I bolted on a huge Weber and it would hit the ton. Lots of stuff on YT about them and some with R1 engines etc...sounds like a hoot!

Mini Cooper (rover not bmw) 1.3 sport pack spent loads and loads of cash on it, loved it. Remember being in France 1999 June d day celebrations car was red with Union Jack loved it raced a golf on the autoroute ( wasn’t a race she let me keep up) over 100 miles. Brilliant little motors I was big into my minis. Love small cars. Would love a mini with a vtec fitted.

I had a Mini. Well, a few but the last one in Nightfire Red with a 1380 fast road lump in it. 0-60 in maybe 5 seconds. Handled so well I never found it's limits. Top speed was only about 80 as it was geared purely for acceleration. Fantastic little cars. I'd have another but not one of the BMW ones thank you very much.

I was big into minis as well back in the day. I always thought id love another one, then my mate who owns a garage called me up and asked me to help him service the SUs on one. All good, lots of chat about how great they are showing the apprentices what a carb was etc. Hilarious asking there where the oil goes... they thought we were winding them up, like about blinker fluid etc. Pk, job done and we went to test it out. 2mins up the road i want out. That was enough for me. Too small and scary with that lack of safety, plus my mates driving (while great) isnt good as a passenger lol.
