Im busy restoring an lc250. Sent bodywork off to get an original paint job. Bad news today the petrol tank is too far gone. Im know looking for a decent tank that isnt corroded inside and no leaks. Paint isnt an issue. Cash waiting.

Hi Why not get a new, pattern tank ? Definitely no rot then ! Unless you want originality, I would go new every time. And welcome to the forum Dusty

Welcome!
Ok... 10 posts lets you place ads in the wanted section... Spend a few mins tell us about yourself and your bike and post a bit in some threads.
This is a community, not just for sales etc. You will find good info and help here. If youre restoring an LC you could become an active member, plenty have done so even if they didnt think they would when they started.
Lots of info here about pattern tanks, have a search on those as well.

Yes like Dusty said a new one saves all the hassle of restoration, rust, holes .. Got a good quality one from Norbo.. I can’t tell the difference But make sure it’s a good replica, from a reputable supplier. Welcome, the lads on here are very helpful ( listen to me ‘ lads ‘ we’re all mainly in our 50-60’s 😆 )

I’d go for new if I was in your position Tom ! Realistically your not going to pick anything decent up used for under £300 even on here, Even then all you may be doing is buying some extra time , Norbo does 2 looking at his site think Mutts can also get hold of them..
this is off Norbo’s shop. These are Not the ones made in India . They are a propper coppys that fit as they should They took me 7 years to get them made this good and they are as good as you can get £390 "These are allso not the same as the cheeper £320 ones knocking about , they have gaps in the seams . They are Ok they dont leek but do have small gaps in the seams if you turn them over , They are £320. You have 2 to choose from .

I'e had a couple of new tanks from Norbo, plus new side panels and new tail cowl. The new plastics are a different material to the original, and much more forgiving compared to the old parts. The new tanks do differ slightly from original, but you have to put an old one next to a new one to tell initially. Some of the lines are sharper on the new tanks, but otherwise they are perfect for most builds. If you want a nut and bolt perfect, original build, then the new ones do differ from old. I never build standard so it doesn't matter - I'm just glad they are available as it was a major issue trying to find a decent tank before these were available. Dusty
