Hi guys can anybody tell me the best way to clean the petrol tap and change the diaphragm on a pv petrol tap?

i waisted my money trying to refurb one with a service kit ended up buying a new one from Norbo

Yes. Did the same. Couldn’t get fuel to stop flowing to carbs. Tried a couple of kits no luck. New fuel tap. Problem solved!

I've refurbed a few with no problems
As long as there is no corrosion on the tap parts it should be fine but you need to clean everything and a good idea to give the diaphram spring a little stretch to perk it up

Carb cleaner and a little fine scotchbrite pad for stubborn crud if required

Hi mate when changing the diaphragm the new kit does not have a hard plastic piece in the middle is that correct or are you supposed to swap it over,any help

Yep swap it
From memory you need a layer of the diaphram each side of it so you need to pop one layer through the hole
