Hi guys new to the forum so hope I have posted in correct section.I own an aprilia rs250 but have been wanting a rd350lc again as it was my first bike,I have seen a German import with matching engine and frame numbers. The vin numbers are on the headstock along with the plate, the only thing is the numbers are brazed on the frame and not stamped into it is this normal or should I be worried, many thanks ( if I have put this in wrong section apologies)

Definitely sounds like a ringer. You can (although not legally) transfer the VIN plate from one bike to another but it seems like the frame VIN stampings has been tampered as they should be stamped at LH side of headstock. Euro bikes had the plate and the stampings. UK bikes just the stampings. I would avoid this if I was you.

Almost sounds like they have welded a plate over the old vin stamp and stamped that.....

Hi guys looking your thoughts on engine number in photo attached on a bike I’m thinking of buying it looks genuine to us with just a bit of damage between the l and 0 also numbers painted black but that’s easy rectified The raised splines are there and font looks correct any thoughts appreciated

According to Xaviers website this number should be a 1982 model? Check it is? Andy.

Is it normal for the numbers to be so unevenly lined up and for the first 1 to be wonky?

Hi thanks yes it is a 1982 model and I thought the numbers were all pretty even compared to some of the ones I have seen, I think it all depended on what time of day the numbers were stamped in the factory🤪
