Right then after my introduction earlier on here's the stuff that I need some guidance with. I bought an LC Hybrid last weekend and my first outing was 200 miles on Saturday to the 2 smoke fest at Sherburn during this ride I became aware of the fact that it is absolutely flat when you dont wring its neck, If you ride it like a 17 yr old and just keep the taps open its off like a scalded cat 6k and the world turns into stripes however obviously its not possible to maintain this style of riding all the time so some time is spent steady riding. I found that in top or 5th at about 5-6k its completely flat no roll on ability at all - now its some time since I rode a smoker without pVs of some sort and I know that do help with low/mid range but Im sure last time I rode a non PV smoker there was something more than this - anyway any thoughts or suggestions happily received Since I got home yesterday its sat in the garage and I haven't had chance to have a look but through the week I will be having a look at the plugs and the carbs will be coming off to have a quick dip in the ultrasonic foot spa as I am pretty sure this is a fuelling related thing. So thats prob No 1 No2 is the speedo, I also noticed that the speedo takes forever to "build up" and similarly sits at 15mph for about 5 mins when I stop - is this common is the speedo head just knackered or does anyone know of a fix? Thats me for now anyone with any input do chime in Cheers Dave

It could depend on a number of things, from race porting on the cylinders to poor carburation, timing etc..
Mmm difficult. Maybe start with the basics, clean carbs, timing, new plug, leads. Do you know what size jets are fitted, what type of air filter is fitted?

You should get a bit of roll on at 5-6k but you won't get a lot. If you are going by how you 'remember' it feeling when you were 17 or 18 , then bear in mind you are probably looking through them rose tinted glasses. Also bikes have come on a helluva lot since back in the day. Comparing an lc's power against an 80's 4cyl as you would back then, as opposed to a modern bike is going to be like chalk and cheese.

There is obviously something wrong with the Speedo. It may just need a bit of lubing but don't go squirting loads of oil in it!!! I'm sure there are posts on here about similar issues. Someone with more knowledge will be along in time but in the meantime try using the Search function, there is bound to be something about similar issues on here somewhere.

Speedo sounds like it's sticking
If you open the case and look at the mechanism above the spinning magnet there is a dome shaped bit that the magnet spins inside
There is a fixed dome that sits above this. Chances are there is a congealed blob of lube that is sticking between the 2 domes
Carefully move the needle to see if there is a blob and gently wipe it off

It’s my old mildly tuned hybrid with the becket pipes.
It goes like stink as long as you keep it over 5k ish
I seriously didn’t know about the iffy clocks
Sorry Dave :-(

The way your bike looks it should never be in the slow lane.

It may be old school pipes
If ripping the crap out it isn't your thing you could sell on the pipes and buy midrange or all round pipes from Mutts

Could the five stone you've put on since you were 17 be stopping it building up speed unless it's smack in the power band? Just a thought 😉

I've not had a dip of the float yet. He must be still in bed.
