1A2 is a 250d frame. The giveaway is the footrests, they 'hoop' under the frame on a D, E/F are bolted to the side of the frame

Yes that's what I meant 1a2 looking at that list you put up mine is a 1979 model 2r8 but still doesn't say e or f it's under the one that says e.

soz, my mistake I was thinking of the model number 1a2 for 250d, 2r8 for e/f. Your frame number is a 79 bike according to yamaha model code list but doesnt say if its e or f.

As Peter said, its an F 1979 2R8 as denoted by the frame number, 1978 was an E, 1980 was the start of the LC range.

Guys...1A2-22 is a 2R8 and 1978 ...first year of 2R8 ...so it’s an E
1A2-4 is 2R8 for 1979 so it’s a F !
So as I said an hour ago your is an F ... What’s the confusion?

I don't see how there is any confusion either, its the numbers after that count, 1A2 430101 to 450000, 1A2 432 means F, can't be any easier than that.

1A2 430101 is the start of the 250 F production, the numbers after that are sequential to the bikes being produced up to final for that model of 1A2 450000
After that the LC was produced.

You almost got it ! If it’s a 2R8 Ie a UK/EU bike then anything starting 1A2-4 Is an F....the numbers after that are just the index numbers out the factory.
In pure index numbers the 1A2-40 up to 4299 are other country models So not 2R8 and you can disregard.
Essentially in the Uk we have four years of coffin tank Aircooled 250 C to F
1976 ...they all start 1A2-00 Those are the Cs, 1977 Ds all start 1A2-20, 1978 Es all start 1A2-22 and the F.......1979. all start 1A2-43
