Hello All, It's been a while since I built a 350, been on the dirty diesels for the last few years. Put a bid on this a few weeks back and got outbid straight away so forgot about it. Imagine my surprise when a few nights back, takeawy with the Wife and my phone pings, now my Wife's not stupid and boy she knows what that cash till notification means! Anyway, the bruises are healing and I've managed to get in the garage this weekend to make a start. Feel a bit of a cheat really as Nick who I bought it off has done 99% of the work 12 years ago but it had been up in his loft for the last 10 years and he decided it was never going to get done. So, I thought I'd post a few pics of my progress as we go. 1st Pic is from the Advert Cheers Mark. s-l160020200823_14192320200823_15091920200823_15255820200823_14195720200823_151241

Thanks everyone, Had a productive day today, got her new boots fitted and now up on her wheels. 20200825_16021620200825_16015520200825_16010920200825_160046Still all only loosely put together, just wanted to make sure everything fitted nicely and lined up. Need to get the bodywork off for paint but at the minute I've no idea even what colour I want yet alone the look but if I don't get it in the queue I can see it being Christmas before I get it back. Then the engine, Nick who I bought the bike from said he'd put 600 miles on a Stan Stevens fresh motor, I've no reason to doubt him but this was 12 years ago, so not sure whether to just slot it in and see. 12 years in a loft, Strip it or try it? Have just noticed the oil pump is missing, I did see "new" ones are available or can I buy an old one and have it rebuilt? The rest isn't going to be so quick as the last week so I'll post more as it progresses. Cheers Mark.

After 12 years in loft I would strip and build. New seals etc just to b on safe side. Better than getting together and starting again.

Looks lovely with the Astralites I would go with new Yam crank seals at this stage, and a full check over of the engine whilst you have it on the bench. Well worth the effort and piece of mind. And Arrow on this forum is the oil pump rebuild king - send him your pump and it will come back better than new Great progress Dusty

Is that the 2 stroke oil tank under the seat Yes, it's an incredible piece of machining, the tube that runs back to hold the rear light is the filler tube, so when the seat unit is on the filler cap sits flush in the top of it. I've no idea who thought of it but it wouldn't of entered my mind to make up something as extravagant as that.

Progress is slowing down but getting there, I think it's the thought of tidying up the wiring as the next job. 20201011_16262220201011_162646Smoky video but running on the final bit of premix and the pump now primed and running.

Another productive Sunday tinkering. Project came with a Vapor Trail Tech fitted but wasn't overly keen so bought a Daytona Deva01 from Digital speedos, much better now but will have to make a new bracket to lower it back down. 20201018_145125Also got the 350lc belly pan to fit, not that there's much left of it after cutting it around the pipes but it's a much nicer shape that the 31k one. Have now relieved the area around downpipes a bit more and given it a better shaped finish to give the paint a chance of not getting fried. 20201018_13382220201018_133842There was a really nice Harris clutch lever in Nick's "Gucci Box" of bits but it had no chance of fitting the standard 31k post so a quick google of the part number came up with R1, searching for a clutch post for those, Ebay threw a link up for an XJ6 one, now this also had a mirror mount ( I hate riding without mirrors) so it was a no brainer to get that. Totally happy with the look. 20201018_154323Last but one item out of "The Box" is the WP steering damper, just need to sort the lock stops out as the stroke on the damper is less that the lock as it is now. 20201018_145024

Finally got the paintwork back, just had to fit it. Just left it to Larry at Illusion Race Paint as I had no idea what I wanted. Totally impressed yet again. Only the wiring to do (Only! ) with a couple of new purchases from Norbo, Zeeltronic and a quickshifter and a loom to start from scratch I'm hoping my mate will be of assistance, well actually, I'm hoping he'll do it! 20210131_14255920210131_14333820210131_14280020210131_14321720210131_142727
