well 30 years and 3 months after i last turned off my 82 4L0 , yesterday was the day to fire her back up again.
Had full strip down and rebuild, crank, rebore, brakes and all the usuall stuff a nearly 40 year old bike needs.
started off by bleeding the oil pump, and pipes to the carbs.
couple of litres of petrol next to see if any carbs leaks, all looking good,
de-ionised water in the rad, ( which i will drain before winter) left a while still looking good.
right to start her up, thinking it was going to be a bi**h, but after 4 kicks, she fires up, now im well happy,
quck check around and all looking good.
pulled the cable to the oil pump to check oil coming out, that was fine.
felt end of the exhausts, both feel the same ammount of pressure coming out, and barrels feel as hot as each other.
turned her off after a few mins, and she fired back up on the first kick.
so all in all, happy with the outcome.
now for the downside
a water leak coming from the cylinder head area, and from the temp gauge. area,
hoping that once i re-tourque the head once its fully cooled that it may cure that one,( if not may be a skimming job for someone to do)
temp gauge will need a closer look at??
going back to the oil pump, while its idiling it seems to be moving only very slight, if any!! ( got it booked to go to arrows soon)
went through the gears fine, but finding nuetral was a bit tricky, seemed very sensative when knocking up/down from 1st and 2nd.
any feedback from the issues, will be most welcome
thanks
will get some photos uploaded
