What youve found with Aussie parts is as Howard says totally right. Prices are all over the place, the parts book contains a lot of NLA stuff you can order... but its still NLA of course so you get refunded yet its rarely updated after so they keep going round that loop. And yes... Not much stock in Aus, thats normal for the modern world, dealers dont want money tied up in stock, nor do the importers. The 3 months is a boat ride from Japan as there are no planes - no tourists = no cheap air freight.
Our govt went round the world asking big companies to collect gst on money we spent outside of the country. ebay, amazon etc etc etc all were good targets for them and complied. Personal purchases, sending to a mate 'in-country' to send on and small companies werent worth the govt visit and didnt have the IT dept to sort that. Buy from them not the others if you can.
Good advice jonw. I will give it a go.

A little bit of progress over the break, painted the barrels, head and the side cases, then started cleaning the frame. 40 years of baked on crud is defying soap and water, degreaser, high pressure water, steam. The vapour blaster is a little too small to fit the frame but it worked well on the swingarm. Next I will try aquaclean and scouring pad.
