Just a thought anyone ever done this as a conversion? Obviously a pv motor into an nsr chassis?

No but an nsr weighs feck all
Was surprised even in restricted form how nippy it was

Exactly and never seen a conversion wondered if it’s because it’s physically unable to accommodate the engine?

The YPVS engine is very long so it will be a big task.

Thanks Tony I guessed there had to be a reason and with the nsr being a physically small motor and compact.

NSR motor is compact but as the front cylinder goes forward I don't think length would be the problem
I'd be more worried the frame isn't wide enough between the spars

In saying that I've just found this pic of the mc28sp I was working on and although frame looks wide the engine is tiny Steve

Be interested to see whether it’s possible.

Don't forget that Pedro had done the same with a 3xv. It is possible, takes a lot of head scratching and compromise. Nico Bakker showed me a chassis he was building after a German customer had seen my build thread and asked to put in a RD500 engine in it. Nico said it was much easier to do because the front exhausts are much more angled downwards making mote space for radiator and front wheel travel.

I'm sure there was one in practical sportsbikes a while ago, built by Martin77??. Think it's also on the NSR forum Found the thread on the NSR forum, but no pics etc, there is also a very short vid on youtube. and found a oic of it mounted in the frame. Search for NSR 350 Not sure this will work, hosting.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/martin1877jan/PV4.jpg

Martin77 (Johnson) has one. He did all the work himself.
The 2 front engine mounting brackets are part of the frame so these need to be removed just below the headstock, otherwise the YPVS wouldn't fit.

Do you have an NSR rolling chassis Tim? Because if not it seems like a hell of a faff to me. Would it be any faster and how would the handling be affected?

Me likey, be very interested to see this, I’ve always loved the look of the nsr and if you could do a big bore you’d almost have the twin cylinder works nsr500 down to a tee. Wasn’t it Dave that built a pv engined KR1 with over 100 bhp?
