Noticed last night that Yamaha are celebrating their 65 year anniversary So if you book or take a test ride you get a Yamaha icons T shirt and entered in a draw to win a new bike (not sure what as I only wanted the shirt) Mart

Nice shirt, that DT is significantly lower than one I used to ride, it was unusually high. ๐

It's mad that you can't just buy one from a dealer,..why waste everyone's time, not many folk are going to be buying new vehicles period for a long time I feel.

i will put the cat amongst the pigeons ; i think the 250LC not the 350 is the iconic one . We were all riding 250 air cooled on L plates back in the early 80s ; so the 250LC was the one we all wanted .
Generally once you got rid of your L plates you went up to a big zed or a GS

But its not like many of us are about to set foot in a dealer at the mo with Melbourne already locked down and Sydney looking set to follow. State borders are shut etc. Anyway, glad you guys are getting them, its a PITA to do the test ride, but might be enjoyable

Could have done a classic flops design, xs250 custom, xv550, xs750 etc Although I have fond memories of sitting on an xs250 custom at the bike show and getting the old dealer brochures.

I think the dealers should award a T shirt to anyone turning up on one of the 12 featured bikes OEB

I rode an XV550 from Yorkshire to the Yugoslavian / Albanian border and back. Not a sales success but a reasonable tourer.

The XV550 was a brave move by Yamaha, the XS750 with its shaft drive was their taking on bmw. Honda have built some bikes just to show they can, like cx turbos but Yamaha really dared to be different. The Tdms were ahead of their time when you look at what a lot of people are riding now. Szrs are probably a better bike than poor sales would suggest, and not my kind of bike but viragos have been filling a market for a long time. Would have an mt01 just to look at the engine, itโs a work of art. Must add that have always appreciated the xv550.

There's a dealer not far from me where a few years ago I had a rather startling test ride on a R1. Might give 'em a bell and see if they are doing this.

That's how they started out. Still make them and great guitars too. Hence the tuning fork logo!
