Been checking out a few bikes for sale and just saw this one at the Bike Specialists. It is also on eBay as well. Some of you may know the bike considering the history they mention. It appears to be around the typical price they ask having seen a couple of others they have had. Not sure if they get it in the end. Parts used were stock, somewhat cheaper to do that around 13 years ago. I wonder how reliable it will be now if ridden? www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1254638

Maybe not very, considering the build was back in 2007, and from the brief description, its not been used much if at all since, its been a show queen by the looks of it, they need to be used to prevent any internal seals drying out.
Top money too but that's what matching numbers demand for some reason that only those who demand that will know, not something that I ever wanted, or thought imperative to have, still go well with mismatched digits as with.

That motor will probably need all the seals replaced it’s all very well saying it’ll get a service. If it were me looking at buying a similar bike I’d rather have Phil’s for sale on here known provenance built buy someone who knows these bikes. Anyone can make a superficial build and make a bike look pretty I’ve never heard of this specialist others may have . I do however know Phil and would trust his work.

it’s all very well saying it’ll get a service. That is what went through my mind, probably show issues after a certain number of miles, how quickly they are covered will dictate the timing but likely to be outside any guarantee given for what that is worth.

It will be the old favourite it’s a classic bike sir therefore it’s not covered. There can be no guarantees with these bikes it’s an age thing but fundamentally why are you paying top dollar from a dealer? Do you have more rights that’s questionable, do they give you a warranty? Easily slipped out of and actually would I want ‘technicians’ working on a 40 yr old bike no disrespect but most technicians are just that model or brand specific they aren’t mechanics in the old sense of the word then they’ll be trained in four strokes. If I had 10k to spend on another of these I’d buy the best I could from a reputable seller on here and get someone who knows the bikes to check it over. Plenty of helpful knowledgeable peeps on here and guys that know them that also make a living out of them.

I wouldn't touch it out of principle, I can't stand all that spiel and bullshit in the description! As already said, that bike has been for sale for ever and a day and is way overpriced.
I would much rather buy a bike from an enthusiast or forum member. Even if it needs a little work, you will know what you are getting and will save a load of cash too.

Those are my thoughts and feelings too. That is why I looked at this forum,it is a the same as classic cars really. In a particular cases, there are only so many going round and the genuine owners know most of them. Those which are genuinely cared for over many years, limited owners and pretty much untouched and a few which keep doing the rounds and knowledgeable owners would not touch (well not at the prices asked). The thing with bikes is because of their size, there is opportunity to store them while you have a go at restoration. It involves work but not the hidden welding jobs and equipment needed to pull engines out etc. I think that is partly why so many cherished "unknowns" appear. I am not keen on dealers. They don't like it when you ask what hasn't been stated in the ad. Loads of history but dig further and it is not available.

In all honesty, if I bought an LC from a dealer with warranty and 2 months later it went bang, I wouldn't take it back for them to re build. Chances are it would come back full of cheap Chinese and yambits crap and need re doing properly. I agree if I had the money I would buy from here if I could.......I'm just one good lottery win away from an f2. 😁 If I did the lottery I would have a very slim chance.😕

If I were looking I would be thrilled to buy that. In fact if I could get the money together without the Mrs knowing I WOULD happily buy it and sneak it in the garage when she went out.....then in about 2 weeks I would wheel it out shouting come look Mrs woman, I have finally finished LC. 😁 Then I would spew a load of guff about building another with all the spares I have accumulated over the years..... I haven't been thinking of this much.....😉

I’ve always thought bikes like this were known as Bitsas !! Built from a frame and cases with anything and everything available at the time, and 13 years ago! Not authentic or got any real history to it, probably never even been ridden since it was put together. Far to much money but as said before someone will probably buy it ,, crazy ,,,,,,,,,,
