I've got to pop my forks out of my LC2 and replace the bushes. I'm not happy with the bouncy front (and rear!) end so I'm looking to find some stiffer springs. On my SDR, I fitted SRX400 springs to great effect and I'm wondering if anyone has used springs from different bikes on their RD's?
What are people's recommendations? (Apart from 2p pieces under the caps!)
Progressive rate springs may well be better than tired originals, and be suitable if you want a compromise for riding one/two up, but the correct rated linear spring for your weight with the sag set up correctly is best.
Cartridge emulators will make the forks react much less harshly on the crap UK roads.
Gareth at Reactive suspension is another good one to talk to.
Cut 4 coils out of the stock Springs, Fettle the cut edges into being flat. Cut a bit of PVC pipe as compensation spacer. The results are quite good and the price is 'affordable'.
This sounds like an interesting solution.. Essentially, you're simply replacing those four coils with a solid spacer (of any material). Does this approach lessen the chance of bottoming the springs than if you simply insert spacers to increase preload in the springs ?
