Hello Forum,
I ordered a pattern ignition switch from Yambits as mine is knackered to the extent the key nearly falls out.
Somebody today warned me they can be troublesome with issues with contacts making and breaking whilst riding - anyone had any such problems with them?
Cheers, Dean.

It would not be the first time there have been issues with quality of parts from this supplier...

I believe almost all the pattern switches, like so much of the aftermarket, are from the same Chinese supplier so its not like where you buy it is going to help/hinder the product.
Ive heard of people with issues with OEM and pattern. Ive bought patterns and not had an issue but these days i tend to buy new OEMs, they are still available.

My F2 ignition switch is in same condition Is it possibly to buy a new complete lock set for all locks on the bike so one key fits all...?

I can't quite remember the details, it was many years ago, but I successfully grafted a new, far eastern, key part onto the Yamaha electrical part, for the best of both worlds. From memory, not quite a straight swap, but not too much fettling to do.

So far, so good. The loom connection was a perfect length and the electrical connections seemed to locate very positively. Also the key switch seems to give a very positive feel when going from off to on or in/out of park. I guess only time will tell what the internal contacts in the barrel are doing but visually looks so much nicer than a chewed up attempted crime victim
