Only a GPZ 900r which when I ride at the legal speed limit gives me tingly fingers.
Sooooo
I don't think plod would like that as a reason to ride a bit faster.

As I face the possibility of not riding / not walking!! and not being one to got out with a bang I just traded my Triumph tiger 1050 (240 kilo) and my 1050 speed triple in for one of these. IMG_0882 by ANDREW FRANCHI, on Flickr KTM890R apart from rearsets I don't think there is an extra in the catalogue other than rearsets that I've not ordered with it, 121 bhp and 160 kilo, I can still ride like a mad b*****d but I'm struggling to hold big stuff up. I have been to Italy 4 times on a zx6r B1H and I'm 6' 6" grant you I couldn't get my feet on the pegs now, just a suggestion, I changed the bars on mine for VARIBARS and it was quite comfortable, I loved that bike, I remember hitting a starling on a motorway in Tolouse at 130 mph right in the middle of my visor, thought I was dead, the bird definitely was, it went so far in the vents of my Arai it was in my hair. Its very, very difficult to admit you are f**ked, I'm having the clearout of my life, hopefully in a couple of weeks all I'll have left will be my Buell M1, Rd250lc and the KTM, heres hoping. Andy, that’s definitely hardcore riding one of those all the way to Italy and more than once. Let us know how you get on with the bike.

Heres a thing though, this is a new model and stock its £10400, its got more power and fully adjustable suspension but the earlier model which is a proper top bike but puts out 100 ish bhp and none adjustable suspension is on offer at £7500 which is buttons for such a thing, think its 0% finance as well.

Proper hardcore was riding back from Andorra in a day to Manchester, about 1100 miles on a zx6r J1, that was epic, pissed it down as soon as we got to the UK. I'll let you know, I'm going to do everything on this bike, touring, track days, sunday rides, I can't wait to get it, next Saturday I'm being told, keep you posted, there isn't a bad word about it on the web. Am in a similar dilemma, it’s not just the weight for me, really prefer lowish bars but you don’t get the leverage. Have sold 2 bikes very recently and am left with the lc for main use but have bought an er5 as a winter/backup bike as I just wanted something ordinary, had a cb500 for similar duties in the past but want to try different bikes. Still have a hankering for something else and for a while have been eying up a big single ktm or husqvarna. Have just in the past fortnight had issues with someone renting a house from us, in that time have done a load of work there and sold it. The place has been a liability for years, going to treat myself to a bigger van and a supermoto, you only live once.

I really need to go out and try a few.

I've got the ktm 790 duke as well as the lc..... the lightness of the 790 is a joy..... I traded a stripple 675 for it 2 years ago... that was a lightweight manageable bike, but the ktm twin is more so...more character and more fun than the street triple...... quickshifter and launch control a riot..... now I'm in my 60's light weight is utmost importance to me.... the 790 duke and lc aren't going anywhere

The 790 duke is a few kilos heavier than the 890 at about 185 kg wet.... that weight difference is mainly cos the 890 is weighed minus pillion pegs and rear seat.... I'm too short for the 890..... its got increase seat height, and tbh I couldn't justify the extra cost to change.... think the 890 is about 180kg wet..... more than happy with my 790 though..... I think it's the best bike I ever owned, and I've had a few 😂

I have never looked at a KTM until now. I must say they are ticking a few boxes. I will see what’s about locally and try and get a ride out.
Nice LC btw 👍

So much choice, I go round in circles deciding. A tdr250 would tick a lot of boxes, and another 2 stroke is appealing.

Have not been very adventurous in owning non jap bikes, not helped by things like servicing a mates low miles husqvarna enduro and finding loads of metal swarf in the centrifugal filter thing. Could argue it did it’s job but swarf shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

I've just sold my TDR, didn't really jell with me, for no real reason I can put a finger on. Maybe a bit too all or nothing in the engine department.
Also had an XT660X a few years back, great bike, I'd have another.

Just read PB's review of the 890, gets a rave review, i would almost be tempted to trade my MT10 in but i would have to sell my 31k as well so thats a NO then Had a KTM 1190 adv and to be honest, with the long travel suspension, it rode alot better than my MT10 on our bumpy potholed shit roads up north...

I bought a z1000sx last year for the road, love it to bits. Really capable bike, comfy, fast enough and not to "old man". I do have an Aprilia V4 track bike to stoke the insanity though 🙂

Spondon 440... full akra on your ktm.... wow..... that's a 2.3 k extra on top of the 11k price for a fully unlocked 890r....but enjoy..... you cant take it with you ( money) can you 👍
You need an evotech tail tidy and radiator guard to complete the looks..... ktm bar end mirrors work and look good too

It actually wasn't murp, although its not all on yet I've had billet yokes, tech pac, full acra, nose fairing, heated grips super sprox and an alarm and all that was £2300 extra, kept thinking you have f**ked the price up and no fee for fitting it all plus they delivered it and collected the two triumphs in part ex for free, big up for DMC in Birmingham. When I've finished I don't think there will be anything left in the catalogue, I am pretty smitten with it.

Andy.... let's hope your 890 engine is leak free.... on various forums the 790 and 890 can suffer from cam cover and front sprocket gasket/ seal leaks..... my 790 is an early one.... over 2 years old 6k miles and has been trouble free so far..... now it's out of warranty lets hope it stays that way🤞
I think I know all the quirks and features of the 790 duke after 2 years, so if you want to know anything let me know
Get a screen protector asap as it scratches easily

Will do pal, on order. Mine has come with Sports cup tyres, they are pretty good and if you live on a track great, wet grip today in the absolute pissing rain felt ok but if they are anything like the pirelli supercorsa's I used to have on the speed triple r they just let go in the wet one day, what do you use? think ill change to road 5 when these are done. Is it a common fault? Andy

790 comes on much lower spec dunlop maxis as standard....s22 m7rr or road 5 all good,.... everyone seems to have a different opinion though ..... that sports cup tyre is virtually a track slick tyre, so I'm not surprised it's poor in the wet
