I have got plenty of stuff on the go at the moment, probably more than enough to be honest. It’s all treasure, it’s mine don’t need the room etc. The only usable bike I have is Kwak 636 B1 which I love to blat about on. I had to go to Norwich the other day, got the bike out then realized the idea was fun but the reality of a 4 hour round trip would not do the old back any favors not to mention the pins and needles in the fingers.
Birthday coming up soon . Have been wading through tsunamis of poop with all the Covid crap. We did manage to keep everyone employed, thankfully.I thought sod it. I have worked hard I should have a bike that doesn’t cripple me after an hour.
Was looking at ZZR1100 or similar. Struggling with the old man bike syndrome 🤦♂️ No offense . Or maybe an old Z650 . Not sure.
An old Z is cheap to keep with no tax etc but a ZZR is a different animal. Probably wanting is better than having.

I have had 2 zzr11’s a c and a d model and they are brilliant bikes comfy and fast just not particularly light. I highly recommend them and would have another tbh for me the prospect of doing a 4 hour journey on a sports bike would put me off. I occasionally use my bike to visit customers probably the best I had for that was my old Ducati multistrada 1000s but it had upgraded everything.

Hi. I bought a zzr back in 2000 and like my lc it’s a keeper. I’ve added genmar risers for comfort and Nissin callipers as the originals needed constant maintenance and were not up to the job. I’ve despatched on it, done track days on it and toured Europe a few times. Such a versatile bike and plenty fast enough for my failing senses. I don’t think you’d be disappointed and they’re cheap if you go down that route.

As we are getting geriatric now I think something lighter is the goal
I have a 2002 Bonneville and have lightened it as much as I can and it's still like an Anvil compared to the LC

I agree with Martin, light is the way forwards. Upright and powerful would be my other 'features'.

Completely agree with Martin and jon. I have a Ducati sport classic because it’s pretty light and manoeuvrable I’ve even started thinking of something smaller. I have bigger all to prove any more, my mate is mid 70’s he is still riding and has a 765 before that he had several 675.

Cheers for the feedback guys.
I will keep mulling it over. I do like the old Z650. I remember sitting up front in my uncles 650 when I was a little oik.
For now I will keep gazing at eBay and Facebook 😂

Had a b1 z650 I would imagine it isn’t going to match your expectations.

I know I know. Wanting is sometimes better than having. Can think of a few things in my life like that 🤦♂️.
Probably go for the ZZR d model 97 onwards.

Just bought a Z650 C1. Nice bike, not quick, but comfy & it's very pleasant bimbling around at sensible speeds.
I also appreciate the £0 road tax & no MOT. Cost an additional £20 on my multibike policy, so almost free motoring.

I don’t disagree that for bimbling around they are fine but it appears the op is after something to do miles on?

Dont be convinced by the hype ...Been there and done the "hyperbike " thing, from straightline events to touring to trackdays, I loved my Busa's but the reallity is the weight, gearing and wheelbase means they are more cumbersome and not that exciting to ride south of 170...
Comfort is another moot point, for a pillion maybe but there is a long stretch to the quite low bars and the peg/seat ergonomics is often more cramped than you may expect.
My K7 GSXR1000 was a far more comfortable bike than my Busa over distance.
...IMHO weapon of choice nowadays for the maturing but sporting gentleman is a supernaked, would run rings around on of the old heavy weights and offer more comfort . be less tiresome in the process...and a shedload more fun.

Out of the two bikes I'd have a Z650 any day. I mean just look at one. Beautiful.

Keep the bikes for fun. Any distance work use the car. Even as a fit young man 8 hrs on a bike is draining. 8 hrs on cruise control and flicking thru radio channels is the old man way to go. Buy a finished LC. Sell all your projects. Choose Life

TRACER GT 900
Or the 700 GT
Missus has the 9, she’s not particularly strong but loves it’s light weight and powerful engine
According to her it is head and shoulders above everything else she test road
Although if the GSR 750:had a fairing in it she’d have bought that, the Ninja 1000 she’d lose her licence on real quick but it was easy for her to ride
I’ve a 1250 FA which I love, however after my recent exploits I may have to get rid of it for the Tracer 900 GT , 210 kg as opposed to north of 240

I enjoy tooling about in the garage even though like me they will probably end up leaving site in a box. and always struggled with the selling bit. I am a hoarder and I know it....

Done 150 miles on the Z650, with SWMBO on the back today. Stuck to the limits, or thereabouts, nice ride out. Ticked all the boxes I wanted it to.

I've got a z650 and I have never thought about the weight but the naked sit up and beg position used to wear me down after a couple of hours of non stop motorway Riding. I always ended up with my feet on the back footpegs trying to stretch out.

If I got the Z650 it would just be for ride out and about. Now I have been looking at zeds and getting carried away, that then leads me on to ask.
Anyone had any experience of a Kawasaki ZRX or Z900RS?
😂🤦♂️
