So today seemed a perfect chance for a ride out. The old girl has a new screen, the muddie is now gloss black instead of bright yellow and all the gold bolts are gone. Pre ride check and all the fluids are fine. Jacket on, lid on, gloves on. Key in, fuel on, side stand up, clutch in and hit the starter button. Nada. Just a whirring noise from the battery. Whipped the seat off and checked the fuses and found this little bugger... Changed that and still nothing. Tried bump starting but that didn't work . Rang a friend and was informed that without a full charge the bike simply will not run, even with a bump. So she's on a charge overnight and fingers crossed for tomorrow. Alex

Cheers Flames, she should start tomorrow...and I'll be a good boy mate, thanks for the concern. I know the roads around here very well and where and when it's safe enough to give her the berries. Hang on, only one cylinder so it should be the berry.

After a 24hr charge she tried her best but just not enough oomph to get the starter cranking enough. Bit the bullet and ordered a new Motobatt. I'm just glad it isn't the starter motor though, they are very expensive!

Cheers Jon. If she was mine I'd do the bodywork too and perhaps the wheels and swingarm. But she's fine as she is really. New battery due tomorrow!

Battery did arrive yesterday but today was the first chance I had to fit it. A tad of choke and she fired up first prod of the button. Wicked! Sadly it was pissing down today so hopefully a good run out tomorrow.

I did! Almost ran out of fuel I was enjoying myself so much lol. The Mito has a yellow warning light and when that pings on you have about 2 miles before you drain the tank. Filled up with high octane and off I went again. It's a bit addictive this bike, the power band I guess is more akin to a PV than an LC but keep her nailed and she's off like the clappers. Rear shock is a bit harsh so I'll adjust that and some new tyres are needed really to exploit the full potential. They have plenty of rubber on them...but some Diablo Corsas would be a huge improvement!
Still can't get over how fortunate I am to have this and again a HUGE thanks to my friend for the loan!

Had another run out today whilst mum had a kip. Just the local roads and this time I made sure I had some petrol in it! Few twisty bits and then a test ride down the nearby dual carriageway just to make sure plod wasn't parked up in a van. No plod so she got a bit of welly down that road! One thing I have discovered is that the mirrors are there purely for decoration. Apart from that, for me, this bike is about spot on. Not too big and enough oomph for my needs. Ended up at my local coffee shop for an espresso and a cigarette. A good day indeed. Alex ps can't help but wonder what she'd go like with a big bore kit on...

Hopefully no one! I know where all the cameras are around here and the only places the cops park the one and only camera van... Didn't pull a wheelie up the High Street Dusty but did manage to terrify some old ladies when I walked into the coffee shop, with my lid still on... Alex

Lovely weather here at the moment (about 28c) so today I took the bike to work. Short ride of about 4 miles there and as usual I enjoyed every minute. The girl I'm working for (decorating her entire house!) has some great neighbours and one is a total bike nut. Has a Fireblade. So he came over for a butchers and was very impressed. Finished work and set off home. Pulled up at some lights and the engine died on me. WTF? Have I hit the kill switch? No. Pushed the Mito to the kerb and tried to figure out what was afoot. DOH! I neglected to turn the bloody fuel tap on. What a berk. To compensate I did cane her a bit on the ride back... Alex
