Hi All, My 31k is now safely in the garage, its pretty good all in all, needs jobs but nothing too daunting right now (famous last words).
First question I need some help with please:
The temperature gauge clock glass is cracked and broken. Anyone ever replaced one? Buying replacement Perspex discs to fit is easy, the hard part seems to be getting the old one out without damaging the surround in the process.
I searched the forum on this; there's good advice on polishing out scratches, I can't though see anything about actually replacing a glass (its Perspex but you know what I mean).
Any advice/tips/ people that do this sort of thing - its bonded in so I'm loathe to try and hack it out without a game plan first.
Thanks

If it is the plastic kidney clock covers I'm afraid The plastic lenses are bonded in as part of the moulding process
I have replaced some before successfully but you need a donor case with an intact lense
The black plastic rim around each lenses is double skinned so it is possible to cut round the outer skin of a donor case with a good donor lense but otherwise broken
You then grind back the outer skin then cut out your broken lenses inner skin then machine out the case to accept the donor lense
The join is on the very edge of the lip so barely seen
Wish I still had pics
