Hi Guys, I’ve replaced the float valve with new from Fowler’s the bike went to mutts for engine work and when I picked it up ( this was ages ago) he said I had a dodgy float valve in left carb which he had replaced. Float height adjusted correctly. Anyhow went to visit my son sat in a bench with bike parked right next to bench and noted fuel dripping from float bowl gasket left carb bike on side stand. Got a new gasket from norbo to see if it was that bike carb still leaks ? Am I missing something here guys ? Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards Mark

Just because its new doesn't mean its right, could be a dodgy valve seat or needle, I have bought many parts new that have been dodgy, I would try taking the seat out and use a cotton bud with some autosol on to polish it, don't do it with seat in place as you could push polish through and block the hole, if the needle does not have a coating of rubber on it (some do some don't) then I would also rub over it with a grey scotbright pad and then polish with autosol too to make sure no burs, also could be some muck behind the valve stopping it from seating correctly, the fuel level should not go that high as to come out the gasket under normal conditions.

As above check the gasket surfaces are perfect
The fuel level is usually just below the gaskets but when on the side stand the fuel level will rise on the left side
New paper gaskets have a tendency to crush over time
I never fit the carbs straight after fitting new gaskets. I leave overnight and you will find the screws are loose in the morning so need nipped up again
May be your issue

Hi guys thanks for the advise will first try nipping the gasket up. Yes understand parts can be wrong when new however this had a new float valve fitted by myself then another new one fitted by mutts. It doesn’t leak when it’s sat upright on its paddock stand. Hence my last thoughts about the gasket. The old gasket was paper thin Cheers Mark

I have a few b-grade gaskets you can have FOC. They should work fine, but have a few rough edges. PM me your address and I will send you some.

Pain in the arse
