On the side of my 4LO OO carbs there is a small outlet that a small tube attaches to. My question is where does that air tract lead to? Does it intersect with the air correction tract? And does it lead elsewhere? Thanks guys.

It goes to the float bowl and the air correction circuit that feeds the emulsion tube

If this tract is obstructed in any way what symptoms would show up? Richness in running etc?

It will also mean the air correction circuit will not work so your main jet fuelling will be fecked

Looks like it's blocked on my bike. If you blow in outlet and block float bowl should feel it in emulsion tube right?
Also if block emulsion tube area should be able to blow through vent directly into bowl right?
What's the best way to unblock this passage way? I"ve poked around with my smallest carb cleaner wire but doesn't seem to do anything.
How do you get the emulsion tubes out to clean behind?
Thanks guys, you're the best!

Remove the main jet and washer underneath Refit the jet without the washer and tap it into the carb body The emulsion tube should move into the slide area As for the air correction circuit you need to drill out the larger of the 2 brass balls at the bottom of the inlet 4.5mm brass balls can be bought on ebay Steve

To get the emulsion tubes out, take off the float bowls and floats, carb tops and sliders, unscrew the main jets and remove the washer. turn carb upside down on the bench find an allen key or something you can use as a drift and very gently tap out the jet. hopefully the gap between the tube and carb body is full of grey dust... scrape that all out, check the emulsion tube is clear and all the holes are unobstructed, poke through any blocked ones with a strand or two of copper wire, do the same with the pilot jets. A skoosh of carb cleaner to finish off and reassemble.. You may find a thread or two about removing the brass ball on the airbox side of the carb which is worth checking too..

cool, thanks for the info. Got the larger brass balls out and cleaned the crud behind. Emulsifier also out and cleaned so far so good. Putting carb back together and noticed I've got 2 RH float bowls! Do I have to find a LH or is it possible to open up the closed hole? Also, a bit confused my carbs are marked 4L 00 and bike is 1981..should these have brass balls or epoxy? there was a lot of epoxy on 1 but still a brass ball. Finally, I notice on the RH carb looking up from the float bowl there seems to be a brass ball missing compared to the LH side. Looks like could be because of choke but why is it open on RHS? Thanks for advice guys, sees like there's some real knowledge in this forum 😁 If I can work out how to put pics up, I will www.flickr.com/photos/189563896@N04/shares/k3CGRzflic.kr/p/2jsjrczflic.kr/p/2jskQme
