I completed my restoration 3 years ago and touched everything but the paint. I still get complements from people who are amazed with the condition of the body panels after almost 40 years. I am the original owner.. My dilemma is I like the idea of still having the original paint but the saying "good from far but far from good" applies. Numerous paint chip touch ups around the tank over the years and a few scratches over the tail piece where I used to bungee my tail pack when I was younger man have me thinking she deserve a final cosmetic makeover. My tank is as clean as a whistle interior wise and has only a dime size ding on it only that is barely noticeable. It gets ridden now and to be honest would be terrified to ride it if it has a fresh paint job. So my question is, should I go for the new paint or leave well enough alone?

Only you can answer that question really, its a personal choice.
Dont let middle aged OCD/anxiety stop you riding your bike no matter what your choice is my advice...

Maybe get a second body kit with new mint paintwork for shows and keep the original set to use.
