Matt,
Just seen this thread, I've now started my 31k build so this sort of stuff is on my radar.
I didn't realise you were a closet stock bike man, thought you were a hybrid specialist.
This one looks great and is a credit to you.
If I get mine 75% as good I will be happy.
A couple of questions for you:
-are the crankcases usually alloy finished (vapour blasted these days i guess) or painted satn black?
-do you know if the 'French blue/white' variant was available in UK in 1983/4?

Can’t remember seeing the blue ones back in the day so not sure If they were only in France originally 🤔
Case wise I paint the tops and leave the bottoms alloy with some Acf 50 sprayed on to protect
