I noticed that when I removed my exhausts, one of the cylinders had bolts fitted in place of the studs, not a good idea in my book. If you need to remove the exhaust a few times, before you know it, the soft aluminium threads have worn and that what had happened to my cylinder I managed to obtain high tensile adaptor stud M10/M8. So I drilled and tapped to M10 and used the stud. I was in a quandary as to use a helicoil but opted for the stud. I'll let you know if I have issues. I just need to cut the stud to length. They are for use with VW cars, but hey if it works, use it. That what I tell my wife. www.brickwerks.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=SKU%3A+UN90905502&x=21&y=14

I had one like this for a while, but had it welded and retapped when I took it off the bike next. It lasted a few years, so not really a problem, just not orginal.

I have used those too Chris in the past. You can get shorter ones than the one you have fitted. Saves cutting it to length and keeps the shaped end. As they are for automotive application it should last forever if you want but as 4LO4ever says, not original and the green bolt purists might shun it. But if it does the job and a good one too then just leave it. John
