Pistons out, and cans off. I’m thinking it’s never had the top end done by the 000’s on the piston? Cylinder doesn’t look scored to me. Pretty sure James Bond’s brother had this one at some point. Not sure what that means? These studs look like a no-win situation to me:

Thats a polished well used bore, its going to need a rebore I would think.
Those studs would clean up i would think.

give em a brush with a small wire brush and some WD40 and see what they look like, else have the whole bottom end vapour blasted.

Removed the rear wheel. The one that came in the bike has a dent on the rim. I got a spare with it so I’m going to try and clean up the rust in the drum and use the wheel that isn’t dinged up. Next to start cleaning up the subframe while I wait for tools to continue taking the engine apart. Flat spot on this side of the rim. Spare wheel that I hope to clean up.

You could knock that dent out for sure. Spin it on a balancer or even an axle held in a vice and see if the whole wheel is out first tho as that would write it off.

If you get the cases vapour blasted those studs will come up like new. It's a great process for cleaning up the cases, and allows you to see any damage or areas of concern, much better. It's a non aggressive process, so wont affect bearing surfaces, and you end up with cases that look like they have had a nice coat of silver paint ! It also "seals" the surface metal so it's easier to keep clean. The media is very fine and is delivered in high pressure water which sort of "buffs" the surface of the ali. Lots of info on the forum about it Dusty

Started cleaning the paint off the pipes while waiting for tools for the clutch and flywheel. Can these silences be re-packed?

I removed the wadding from my baffles after reading some posts on here. Doesn’t seem to make much difference to noise.

Guessing it’s an import? Mine had done 25000 klicks and was on std bore they tend to be well looked after and not messed with.

Cases split and inspected. Not sure about the half rings. Should there be 2 halves on each bearing? I have a couple bearings that only have one.

Hi Gord, Gearbox looks very good. Only 1-off 1/2 moon ring fitted in each gear line per engine. Its coming on a treat. I have the exact bike/colour and am going through a full refurb. My bike is nearly built back up. Top tip, take lots of pics, harness, cable routing etc.. you will be glad you did. I find that am searching out pics to see harness routing, cables etc.

I have fair amount of them.
