I picked up a "track bike" recently, with the idea of racing it. I have a race bike that I will be running in the "GP" class, but wanted something else to make the race weekends more worthwhile. Its an LC, so fits in a few periods below the GP bikes in the local race org. There are a number of rules that require it to be someowhat period correct (i.e. can't put a valve engine in it, or run PWKs). Not really a "Restoration", but I am t to pretty it up a bit.
Going to be using F2 forks, 2 piston calipers, and F2 wheels (eventually, this year will be LC wheels).
Will post as the story progresses.

Please enjoy the pics of the setup as I got it... He had an SV650 front fairing on it... sold it immediately. Also ditched the amazing oil tank... The engine is amazingly low mileage (not original engine) and is getting a full strip and rebuild.

Current state Fresh spray-bomb paint and tapered bearings installed. Build up will start soon. This is going to be a real minimalist machine. I am excited to finally thrash an LC around a track. Been mostly newer bikes to this point.

This is going to be interesting indeed. Always fancied an LC race bike so good luck with it all! Shame you binned the oil tank. Pretty sure that was a TZ fitment back in the day Alex

Very interested in seeing the progress here - what classes can this run it?

Go for it!! They were made for the track, and introduced many to the racing world with a cheap competitive ride. Keep us posted with your progress!! And if your going to run in the GP class as well...a few on here would like you to post up your adventures!!

Very interested in seeing the progress here - what classes can this run it? The class it runs in is called "period 3" which ends in 1982. The LC would be considered a middleweight bike. Go for it!! They were made for the track, and introduced many to the racing world with a cheap competitive ride. Keep us posted with your progress!! And if your going to run in the GP class as well...a few on here would like you to post up your adventures!! This will definitely be the cheap ride. Basically just something to allow me to run another race. It's going to look much the same as when I got it... Slightly shinier I hope, and with mechanical upgrades. Unfortunately this year the racing season has gone to shit d/t corona, so there will only be one round here before the snow. This is my first year racing, only having done trackdays up until now, so it will be more of a shakedown season.

I sold an engine from my LC hybrid last year and had the opportunity to buy it back, so it did. It was quite fast. Though I had never dug into it, I figured it must have been ported. It was pretty quick. It was a former race bike engine. Today I had a chance to take a peak. I figured I would use it as a temp engine in this project. I am not keen on being in a rush to get an engine put together... while waiting in the corona queue for parts etc. I flogged this bike for about 1500km, 1000 in one weekend, about two years ago, so know it can take a good thrashing. Some interesting findings.... Stock reeds, but with stoppers only on one side. ? Cylinders are even more interesting One appears stock... the other has had the roof stuffed. I tried some other reeds with stoppers... won’t fit.

The left actually looks like it may have previously had the same treatment.. there seems to be residue.

Decided to make some budget “rearsets”... picked up some Chinese R1 pegs. After some fiddling with a spacer and a washer they fit ok. Ground clearance tbd.

Since joining this forum my views have changed a lot. I have also changed my swing arm for a TZ swing arm. Now I would happily modify the original swing arm because I don't think it is so bad as what everyone say it is.

Well... that’s not a TZ swinger. It’s a stocker painted with “aluminum” tremclad rust paint....
These bikes are what they are. I ride them for the skinny tires and the wiggles... the personality.

I realise it's only a standard swing arm you have I was trying to say that I have swapped my swing arm but I think the original arm can be modified to be very effective.

They are ok. Not amazing. If it was for a nice streetbike I might go for something more expensive. They don’t fit without dicking around...
If you are ok with a bit of folded metal in there as a spacer, then I am sure the quality will be good enough too
