this being my first post, although i did join a while ago,
i thought it was about time i said hello and a few lines.
had my 4L0 since about 86, bought as a stolen recovery from queens park motors in Manchester, ( still got the original paper reciept)
i had just passed my test, and was desperate to get my dream bike.
it was a dog, someone had hand painted in a weird blue, presume the people who nicked it, and the brakes were shot.
they had also managed to erase the frame numbers, and the engine number, but the engine numbers have been somewhat re-stamped
i didnt care, i just wanted it, and the price was right for my budget at the time!!!
not going to bore you all what i have done with it over the years,
but i took it off the road in 1990, mainly to preserve my licence as i was on 9 points,
but also to restore it for the 2nd time.
role on 30 years, even though i have worked on it slightly now and again in that time
this year and especially now im determined to get it back on the road.
looking at getting it back to original as possible,
anyway, i will have a few questions, that im sure i will find the answers on here.
take it easy

Welcome to the site. The good news is you need to sort that bike and keep it, as will be difficult to sell on! At least you can enjoy the build and then the riding.
We all happy to help if we can as we love to see another on the road.

roach3, yeah loved queenies, nearly every saturday i visited the place, either just to look or get parts from the upstairs department. shame it went and now turned into flats. didnt live that far from it myself, was a cheetham hill lad at the time.
shaunthe2nd, looking forward to getting back on the road, dont know about difficulty selling on, i assume you mean about the stamp numbers? when there was another RD forum going, (that i cant seem to find anymore) i had a few offers for it, when i put it out as a feeler for a possible sale, i know i would never get top price for it, but thats by the by. Thanks for you comments anyway, and i agree would be good to see another on the road, although i dont see that many on the road where i live. im probably about 90% through the build.

Welcome, I knew Queenies weโll and used to go on a Saturday morning on my 250E (On L plates) to look at the bikes and have a natter. Happy days. Ask away, if you have question, someone will have had the same problem and resolution.

I quite often went to The Honda Shop (sorry for using the H word) in Eccles. Only a small shop but nearly always had some nice bikes in and a few bikers visiting. Not sure if anyone remembers them? Other shops were Knott Mill Kawasaki on lower Deansgate , that was a big shop with loads of bikes n bikers.

dont remenber the shop in eccles, but was BJ west the same as knott mill? and that flyover, was brilliant if you managed to catch with no cars in front, got my RD to leave the ground a few times, no mean feat with the weight of the bike. sadly all gone now

managed to get her out on the road over the weekend, felt good to ride it again after so many years. also forgot how heavy she is, compared to all these modern bikes.
but still loved it, and wow did it remind ne of being 18 again, big grin on my face
