Top job Is it hard to get gen gaskets? Also where did you find NOS pistons and rings? The pistons are NOS but unfortunately not genuine Yam They are an old set of Jap TKR's hence the discoloration on them but for £30 a pair with rings I can't complain You do get NOS genuine ones on ebay but pricey. If you look up the banshee part numbers you can still buy genuine ones from Yamaha Main difference is no expander under the bottom ring and rings are different I think As for gaskets the base ones from Yam are £24 each now and a head gasket is £55 No way worth it but if you can wait you can get them from this guy which is where mine are from www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRE-ORDER-30-DAYS-RD350-YPVS-31K-1UA-1WT-48H-GENUINE-HEAD-BLOCK-GASKET-SET/383629893695?hash=item59521fa03f:g:R2gAAOSwT6Zdg-RoNever had import charge from him either Steve

Ok thanks 👍 seen parts for the ypvs for sale on the net and I think to myself (HOW MUCH?). I have got a gasket set but it is not yam,so I am not really sure about it. Also what did you use to seal the top and bottom cases together?
Thanks Arrdy

Thanks Arrdy Pattern gaskets are ok other than I'd use a genuine head gasket and genuine crank, oil pump and water pump seals Use threebond 1184 or 1215 to join the cases Steve

Thanks 👍 I will have to add a gen oil pump and waterpump seal to ever growing list of parts 😥 before I put mine back together.

Thanks 👍 I will have to add a gen oil pump and waterpump seal to ever growing list of parts 😥 before I put mine back together. Wise move, do it right 1st time and you shouldn't have any issues. Do like I did ( now on 3rd re build) and suddenly gen yam parts don't seem so expensive 1st time round. Cutting corners and ' that will be ok ' to get bike done quicker ends in 3 times the cost and even more time off the road getting things sorted. Hindsight is a wonderful thing , take advantage of other people's , it saves a lot of regret.

This will be the first time I have ever rebuild an engine before. Hopefully I do it right the first time Just trying to clean the carbon off the exhaust ports at mo thats fun (NOT) . And then I will start a build thread. Yep Hindsight is a wounderful thing

Check out the build threads. Dusty posted a good one. They are very easy to work on, but equally easy to miss the small details like retainer clips. Take your time, keep checking your manual / threads and take pics as you go......you will question yourself about whether you fitted that circlip or retainer....but not until the cases are bolted up or the top end is on. Helps to have pics to check. If in doubt about something , ask the question on here. Plenty of very knowledgeable helpful people that know what they're talking about.

Fitted the first pipe of my cheapo Chinese hoses £19 posted 😁 They actually fit better and more snugly than the red GPI set I used on the last build Balance pipe and replated clips fitted Had no more deep acorn nuts for the barrel studs (spending as little extra as possible to stick with the leftovers theme) so used replated nuts then fitted cut down threaded rod protectors 😀 Steve

Been doing some bits and bobs. I'll post pics when paint has dried.
Clutch kit hasn't turned up yet 🧐
Did pressure test it and it failed. Luckily just on the left balance pipe joint.
I had used replated original clips but a pair of jubilee clips later it held pressure 😀
Torqued up the clutch centre bolt ready for when the kit turns up. Bought one of the EBC drc kits for the first time as I had no steels so fingers crossed
Also had a new LC lockset in my Ebay basket for 2 weeks now and nearly hit the button so many times but knew I had some new mismatched lock parts
Had a dig in the shed and found a NOS tzr250 iggy switch (B type key), a used LC iggy switch (C key) a new gen fuel cap (C type key) and a box of used seat locks
Now the fuel cap is a right faf so I decided that was the keys I'd use.
Iggy switch first. Stripped the tzr and LC switches and p1ssed about for ages and stripped another 2 seat locks for parts to finally get the C barrel to work with the fuel cap key. Fitted it in the TZR barrel and lock base but with the LC wiring and contacts
Then got a seat lock barrel that would take the C key. Think it was an F lock and worked through the tumblers I had left and managed to get it matched to the fuel key again
Just waiting on the seat latch bodies drying to finally assemble them 😁

Little pic showing the lock barrel with the key tabs you need to change to get the other key to fit. 5 tabs, 9 types of tab 😅 The last tab is what locates the barrel in the lock to stop it pulling out with the key The springs can be little buggers 😆 Just a few spares left 😬 Steve

Hangers baked for 30 mins then fitted NOS front and rear pegs 😎 Steve Have you got any 'leftovers' on this build that aren't NOS or not rebuilt with NOS parts? I have the odd new part for mine that look 2nd hand compared to your leftovers!!!
