looking great now , good luck track n tracing the wiring gremlins..... Cheers bud I removed and tested the clocks to within an inch of their lives lol They all check ok. The Indy warning lights being dimmer than the neutral light seems to be down to darker green lenses - doh! The twitching tacho and reading 12k with the headlight I'm starting to think is the Ignitech They don't like a poor power source. When I switched on the indicators the tacho twitched. At first the tacho only did the 12k bit on hi beam but then started on both but not with the bulb removed. The earth continuity is perfect so I'm wondering if when the headlight is on the voltage is dipping and the Iggy is going haywire Steve

Clocks, headlight and horns fitted and working. My gremlin with the tacho seems to be the battery and Ignitech Just twitches when the headlight is switched on Does the same when the horns sound Just waiting for a nice 3d printed horn cover π Steve

Try swapping the iggy over with one from your other bike or the secret stash you have hidden away. That way you can eliminate that particular line of enquiry from your detective work. A bit crude but defo works π

A bit crude but defo works π I would but I've cut the leads off of the 2 cdi's I had π¬ Its deffo the Iggy anyway as if I disconnect the tacho trigger from the Iggy it stops. Now the Iggy is powered and earthed independently so nothing shorting there Also the more I put the headlight on the worse it gets so I think the battery is iffy Its a Motobatt bought early last year. It's just sat in the garage. I did charge it a couple of months ago lol Got some new lead acid jobbies at a mates so can always try one of them. The Motobatt was actually for my 385 anyway π Steve

Phew! π Dug out the last 2 frame infill panels I had. Been ignoring these ones as one had been painted black. Problem being it's reacted and it's a right mess On previous builds I've just bought new ones or found nice originals but now the right one is NLA and the left was superseded a long time ago for the faired bike so has a cut out in it π« You guessed it, it's the RH NLA one that has been painted Spent near 2 hours getting it off trying every chemical that would not destroy the plastic without much success Ended up finding boiling water and some acidic toilet cleaner concentrate from work would loosen it's grip so it could be scraped off Bit of back to black should finish them Steve

Hi, looking good, can you tell me what speedo drive fits the fazer front axle. Hi Either early rd400 (17mm spindle) or xjr400 You also need the retainer and tab that's normally in an RD wheel Steve

Decided to tackle the issue of the side stand hitting the exhaust 1st I ground the dome off the mushroom for the spring then cut a groove into the fork to let it retract further so it doesn't sit on the pipe Touched the powder coat in with some paint Steve

Checked the brakes again this morning and found both calipers sweating fluid at the bottom banjo copper washers
Bought the calipers refurbished and they had been blasted before powder so the banjo bolt mating surface is rough
Spat the dummy out and ordered a fully refurbed pair of blue spots and some new pads
F*ckety, f*ckin, f*ck π

Did you nip the bolts up a bit more Stevo Did nip them but with them being 1mm pitch they are near solid. Just had enough and I'm not p1ssing about anymore with them, can't compromise safety The calipers were cheap as chips, more annoyed I bought new pads, pins, pad supports then another caliper after the bleed nipple thread stripped. I'll maybe buy a scrappy cheap RH caliper to match the left I bought I can strip and refurb them with the bits of the shagged ones to either use or punt on but probably not worth the hassle Steve

If you are holding me to that philosophy I'll rephrase that to say I had Β£155 "leftover" in my Paypal account π It's either that or the next owner could be "left(all)over" the side of a van π¬ Steve

Another way to connect a tacho with iggy is to pick the inlet signal of the coils. This worked for my china tachoπ

This worked for my china tachoπ If I wasn't using a YPVS tacho then yes this would be an option for a trigger Another option would be to just change to LC clocks with a cable driven tacho π€£ I changed the battery to a brand new lead acid battery and it is the same I've not tried it with the engine running so hopefully once the charging circuit is energised it should absorb any spikes and sort the twitchy tacho Time will tell Steve

What paint do you use Steve, I've been trying out painting myself now I've moved away from my usual guy but I find it seems to chip off too easy, I ve tried different primers etc but doesn't seem to help. Phil On Dusty's recommendation I've moved to Hycote engine enamel Only available in gloss black If you don't want a high sheen once you have painted the part let it go tacky for 30 mins or so then spray lightly from a distance to mist a light coat on and knock the sheen off Steve Is the Hycote stuff resistant to petrol Steve? Doesn't seem like much is these days, PJ1 Fast Black used to be great but a mate recently had some and it was sh1te.
