Did a search cant find any "how to". While im fitting new facia & needle may as well zero odo too. Can anyone shed some light?

Place a Stanley knife blade between the discs to the left of the digit you are changing
Try and twist the blade gently to pry the discs apart slightly while gently trying to turn the disc. Only pry as much as you have to and only go upward on each one.
As in if it is at 5 you need to go 6,7,8,9 then zero
Do not go backwards. It's easier with the face off as there is more room for your fingers
Take your time and you will be fine

yep thats how i do it too, tho this info shouldnt really be posted of course... should be on a PM basis only really to people doing restos not just blow ins who want to sell their nice bike as a low miler...

I know what you mean Jon but if anybody googles it there are 101 videos on you tube
Unless a bike has a documented history I always disregard the mileage as you can simply swap the speedo never mind wind it back
It's harder to open the clock case 😉

Just to add I've opened an engine with 5k miles on it that was seized. Bores and crank
I've opened 2 30k miles bikes that were on standard bore and still going strong
Mileage on these bikes is irrelevant really
Reminds me of a neighbour who back in the day bought a brand new ts185
Never owned a 2 stroke before so rode it out the shop and proceeded to start carefully running it in
The oil light came on and he thought he'd better take it back to the shop to get it checked at the weekend...
...It never made it to the weekend 🙄

I hear you Steve, I was just thinking out loud really.
I only ever zero a speedometer for bikes that are a, totally rebuilt and restored and b, came to me in parts so the speedo is not related to the engine or frame in anyway and I know not what miles any of the parts have done.

Like you I zero my from scratch hybrids
The restorations get left with the correct mileage or where they were imports I set the mph speedo to the converted miles or on some like the rz250 I bought a mph speedo that was "near" the correct km to miles conversion

Seriously, I don't even on a modern vehicle with digital mileage, they can be wound back too.
