What's wrong with just measuring across ! Depends on the ratio ie 4:3 16:9 etc If it was all width and you ordered a 40 inch telly and it was an old 4:3 you wouldn't be happy it was 30 inch deep Steve

Logie Baird was blootered when he tried to measure the screen size and could hardly stand up... hence he measured it diagonally.. it seemed straight to him at the time. HTH.
