Signed. I sincerely hope that all NHS and Emergency service staff are remembered for their heroic actions next time the issue of pay is raised. Sadly, memories are short in Westminster, irrespective of which Government is in power, and I think it will always be the case that people that nurse, police, fight fire or first respond do it as they want to save lives, not for the great wage ! Dusty Dusty I’m guessing you did it for the same reason I did to make a difference and to give something back to society. I know my old lot haven’t had a pay rise for 7 years. All social sector workers generally do it because they care. Let’s also not forget teachers, I’m home schooling my 15 yr old whilst still running a business remotely I could never be a teacher 😬 All signed 👍

Coronavirus is going to leave an indelible mark on us all for a very long time to come. We will be paying for it for the rest of our lifetimes I expect And I wouldn't hold my breath for better pay and conditions for those heroic men and women working in the Nhs, Police, Fire and Ambulance services. 15 days after the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy, the Government cheered when a proposal to end the public sector pay cap, set at 1% was thrown out of Parliament ! 2 weeks prior, the Fire Service personnel were heroes, risking their lives to save others, and then their request for a decent pay rise, along with that of nurses, teachers etc, was laughed out of Parliament The people doing these jobs don't do it for the money - it's well known the wage doesn't fit the commitment they put in, and the risks they take. What is totally wrong is the lack of proper PPE to keep them safe and protected from a virus they know could kill them. Italy has lost 66 Doctors so far to the virus And they have complained about the same lack of safety equipment. Dusty

I’ve still got my old cbrn kit and resi as I was a first responder for all that nasty shite wasn’t until much later we were told that we were expected to last no longer than 20 minutes. Still got mates in the job they are really being put upon, and a mates husband was at grenfell he still maintains that nothing has changed. I train loads of Nhs staff and did so last week and again insufficient ppe for front line staff. It boils my blood. That’s why I respect all that work out there. Take it easy one and all 👍

CBRN - I remember when the Government decided the threat was real, and all Fire appliances would carry equipment for mass decontamination, in the event of a "dirty bomb" or chemical attack. Imagine our surprise when the Government supplied kit arrived - a plastic bucket and a sponge, and 2 bleach tablets ! I kid you not And I spent my last year as an Ambulance first responder. 4 day training course, then out there for heart attacks, strokes, catastrophic bleeds etc, all "Red 1" jobs that should be getting an ambulance/Paramedic, but got a Fire engine instead. It helped "stop the clock" for Government statistics, showing medical intervention, albeit by the Fire Service in the absence of the Ambulance service, which was on it's knees even then. We had virtually no kit, and no way of conveying to Hospital. We saved a few, but lost a lot more Dusty

It sickens me this lack of a decent wage to people who are now risking their own lives doing a job they chose to do because they simply care about other humans. I notice very few football clubs are capping the players wages even though they are doing feck all. Spurs has asked for government help to pay it's back room staff whilst the players are getting on average £70k. A WEEK. That sum would last me 7 years, easy.
Also noticed the other day Dusty that the fire station is closed...wtf happened there?? They are vital, so close to Heathrow and right on the hospital's doorstep.

Surrey has forged ahead with cuts to the Fire Service. 7 pumps are now "off the run" at night, as of April 1st. As you know Staines and Sunbury were closed and amalgamated into one station last year. Keeping both pumps in one new station was meant to appease the public ie. no loss of manpower or appliances, but as we could foresee, the station only has 1 pump available most of the time, and often neither are available due to lack of staff. There are now less than half the Firefighters in Surrey compared to when I was in the job, and there are many occasions when there are less than 10 pumps available in the entire county. There used to be 35 !! The Union has approached Surrey Fire management, begging them to suspend any cuts in light of the Covid outbreak. Workload is ramping up with assistance being given to the Ambulance service/food distribution/ body collection, but the management has flatly refused and implemented the cuts anyway. Pumps now run with only 4 Firefighters on board (have been for mnany years now). What that means is when they turn up to a property fire, they , technically, should wait for a second pump to arrive before they commit a breathing apparatus (BA) team for rescues and fire fighting. That means waiting, possibly 10 minutes or longer now there are less pumps available. The general public have no idea how over stretched our vital emergency services are, mainly because the vast majority of us never need to use them. But the Ambulance service have been run ragged for years, often missing vital meal breaks and rest periods due to workload. I have massive respect for what they do, and they are treated like shit most of the time. Same with nurses, Police - all are essential life saving occupations. I really cant understand it. It's always said that it takes a disaster to change the way things are done in the future, but my experience shows that's not the case. I hope things change after this Covid outbreak, but I wont hold my breath Dusty

Alex Hi Alex Spot on Football wages personal I feel are obscene when you look at what they really contribute to the real society The world would stop and be a very different place without the emergency services and other vital support groups but no football at the moment or in the future would really make no difference to the world long term as we are starting to see Maybe the same rules should apply to them and like most of us off we will have to rely on help from others or use what when have put away as surly they saved some of their earning for a rainy day too and as for paying back room staff maybe they should be asking the players for help😁😁 Rant over Best wishes Al
