I cant remember if I asked this before, I did search to see if I could find a reply honest...
I need a speedo and tacho for my hybrid, and I dont want to take a second mortgage to get a decent set, im not worried about originality either. I quite like the FZR tacho as the needle starts from the "6 o'clock" position, so my question is can a tacho off a 4cyl be made to work and give the correct revs on a 2cyl? also, if I were to use a FZR or FZ speedo would it be close to correct readings?
Thanks. Phil

I'm afraid the 4 stroke tachos will read double as they signal differently
Ypvs rev counters take the pv signal which I think is a varying voltage
You can take a pulse signal off the coil but as it uses a single coil and is wasted spark it gives 2 pulses per revolution
A 4 stroke rev counter is 1 pulse per rev so it would read double
What are you building/ looking for, I've probably got some spares 😉

Hi Steve, thanks for the offer. I'll PM you but basically I need a speedo and tacho to go into the N1 type bezel. As I said as the bike is far from std I dont mind what they are.

There are cheap Chinese tachos and speedos which look reasonable for the price on eBay. You just need to know the diameter and depth you are looking for.
