Hi there . Il try to be brief. Just done engine rebuild . New crank , pistons , seals etc. New power valves and seals . Completely overhauled carbs and intake rubbers. New battery and plugs . It started 3rd kick and idles beautifully. As soon as I apply throttle it pulses or fires once a second no matter how much throttle it gets then will settle to a perfect idle again . Help very much appreciated!! 🙏🏻

1st is it a 29k50 cdi
I had one that wouldn't rev or would have massive backfire
Also did you take the brass balls out the carbs and clean behind them as well as cleaning the emulsion tubes

It's the air correction circuit
If it's blocked it causes all sorts of running issues

Ok . Stripped carbs back down and removed all the crud from behind the brass balls . Put the carbs back in . Starts with choke 1st kick and idles perfect. Carb slides are with cutaway facing backwards ( towards air cleaner ) . Both slides are synchronised. As mentioned before; New crank, pistons, all seals , spark plugs, new stator from electrex, new throttle cables , new inlet rubbers etc etc .... From a perfect idle, if you apply throttle , doesn’t matter how much , it just fires just under once a second then when throttle is closed it goes back to a perfect idle . Could it be electrical? ? Help my wife please as I’m unbearable to live with until I can find the fault 😩😩

Hi Steve. Sorry what do you mean ? Auto correct Should have asked which cdi you are using Early lc2 ypvs cdi's marked 29k50 are well known for having problems Usually cutting out after a little while but I've had misfired, overheating etc before Steve

Hi Steve. I’ll check . Thanks . I’m wondering if the new stator I’ve fitted has damaged the original CDI . Never had this problem before so it’s taken me by surprise! 👍

It’s the right cdi for the bike
Silly question but you have got the small balance tube fitted between the carbs and the vacuum from the right hand carb connected to the petrol tap

Does sound electrical, maybe nothing to do with your bike, but years ago I had a short on the indicator relay that caused the same sort of problems you are getting.

Thanks for your feedback to date . I’ve got the pipe fitted between the carbs but not the vacuum pipe as I’m fueling the bike from an auxiliary tank that yambits sell .

You will need to block off the vacuum pipe if you are using a remote fuel feed. If you don’t block it off you will be drawing in too much air which certainly won’t help things.

My 92 ypvs doesn’t have a vacuum circuit . There’s only one take off pipe on the petrol tap .

If it’s got a different tap with no vac then yes it should be blanked off

Could I send a video to some who are happy to view it so you can hear what’s going on . It’s quite odd and something I’ve not seen on all the bikes I’ve restored . Thanks

Stupid question I know, what happens if you put the fuel tap onto Prime?
Does the engine cut out ie it has flooded or does it keep on idling, it should flood if the tap is plumbed correctly
Reason I ask is if the issue isn't electrical, then it could be fuel starvation and putting onto prime may assist your search
Also it's the correct CDI but is it the correct flywheel, and is your coil pickup working as it should?
