Johnny a fabulous bike and a real credit to you, and what an amazing story. I agree about Andy spondon440 top man and Steve at tpcs also did my wheels on my lc/tz as they are original Honda rs125 magnesium wheels again a top bloke. Keep the tales coming as they make a great read and as everyone else has said your skills in fabrication are great and obviously your day to day skills have come into their own. Thanks again

What an incredible story and fantastic work on the rebuild. Even your lock wire is a work of art! Thanks for sharing and congrats on an amazing bike.

Any updates on Beatrice?? Thanks for the kind comments As for the lock wiring, I get plenty of practice at the TT & Classic TT/Manx GP. Unfortunatley their arent any updates on Beatrice, Shes still waiting for her clothes to be painted! I only dropped them off 15th November 2019 So its a good job I am not in a rush, but its very frustrating. Hopefully if Robbie gets his finger out, she might be clothed by the end of the year,
The only thing is, which year! However, He does owe me a favour now, as I let him do a parade lap @ Scarborough Gold Cup, September last year on the "Mermaid" a Spondon Yamaha 500 which I own. So fingers crossed shes done soon
Shes still here watching TV with me each night, and much nicer to look at than some of the furniture in my house. Best regards

So a quick up date as just got back from a private track day at Knockhill with a few old Racing freinds so it was going to be a tough track day as we never hold a grudge even after all these years Honest!. I will up date the thread better tomorrow or Friday as its been a tough few weeks, to say the least, working on these bikes to try to get them ready in time. As always its last miniute pi$$ poor prepairation as usual. So the bodywork was finally painted and fitted Monday morning 1am, Bodywork was delivered November 2019 !
So Beatrice has finally got some clothes on at last! She also met up with her sister "Bernadette" 350cc Bimotta for the first time since June 1980 which I rebuilt the enigine and restored various parts for my mate Robbie who painted the bikes, who I mechanic forhis race team at the TT and Classic TT & a few other events.
VRS Racing Team. Monday night at Knockhill Also took another bike of mine the "Mermaid" Brian Reids Spondon / Len Manchester TT/F1 Yamaha 500 (1985) which was on the MV Tornamona which sank in Strangford Loch while going to the 1985 TT with Joey & Robert Dunlop onboard. end of a great day with a few great old girls ! Still a few jobs on to do on the snag list, brake lines are far too long ! plus a few other things. Best regards Johnny C.

Many thanks for the kind comments. Unfortunatley as I was running about all day, so totally forgot to get any videos However I have got a video of Beatrice's first start up back on 25th Sepember 2019. At ther end of the dry build. I had a bit of difficulty, as forgot it was a race shift gear leaver so it took a bit of time to get it in neautral, (school boy error) ! IAKW3957 by Johnny Corrin, on Flickr Heres a more recent video of the Mermaid starting up 15th June 2021 (note the use of the milk crates, as being vertically challenged I cant reach the floor once the bike is on the starter) IMG_5482 by Johnny Corrin, on Flickr Best regards Johnny C.

Fantastic! I'm amazed at how quiet the 500 is and it seems almost 'docile' thought i dare say, once on the move is anything but!!
