Hi all Got the RD out today after it’s winter rest and it started up and ran fine as it was filled up with super unleaded before it’s winter layup 👍👍 But then one of the fuel tap pipe fittings decided to pop out of the fuel tap☹️☹️ Looking at them they are a taper locking type fit with about a 0.1mm taper over the 6mm length So the question is is there any type of locking compound I could use to ensure this does not happen again as I am no not happy with just the dry locking taper fit and don’t want to change the tap to standard non vacuum type unless I really need to. I was thinking of using some Loctite 603 retainer But wondered if there was anything specific out there for “gluing” in place taper pipe fittings so it cannot happen again Any advice most welcome Stay safe all Be wishes always Al

You've actually used bearing retainer, it will work well, IF, you never ever want to get it out again, unless you heat it, that close to a fuel source I guess you'll give it a miss
Or if you want to give an apprentice that's annoying you something to keep them occupied, put a bolt in an old head with copious amounts of bearing retainer, let it set, ask them to remove it, should keep them busy for at least a day LOL
Reminds me, I had an issue on an outback trip to supply the cattle stations in the Kimberley, where the hire company couldn't find the correct tow ball for the 4be, the nut kept loosening on the corrigations on the gravel road, we'd have to stop every 5km to tighten the mongrel up, not good when we had 7000km to travel in 9 days
Out came the bearing retainer and smothered the nut in it, no more problems for us, 4be returned a week or so later, phone call received asking how do they remove the nut, a 3/4 gun wouldn't budge it, gas axe came the reply
My un-learned colleague learnt something that day
