Fitted tie bars Do you just offer up the tie bars and tighten? I got some for mine , they are slotted where they mount on frame. Weren't sure if supposed to pull tight 1st or anything like?

Mine were a tight fit, so had to force them in! You usually just bolt up at the rear and tighten the front in the slot where it sits.

Bike fired up for first time today :-)
Got to sort out cooling system, and bleed oil pump, plus a few more bits.

Always a nice moment when you get the first fire up after a build. Usually accompanied with a big grin Happy days

Got a few snagging things to sort, such as left carb over flowing. Checked needle valve and seat looked okay with no debris and worked when blew through it, so thinking it could be a leaking float. Will try replacing float later today.

If the float is leaking, I will give it a Viking burial :-)

That motor is a thing of beauty. I need to build one for my mantle piece.

Found a small water leak from head gasket on left side. Looks like slight difference in cylinder heights, so... Whipped off the top end and took to my local engineering man to skim them on my big jig plate. The plate is what I would class as substantial as it still stands up with two cylinders hanging off the side of it. The plate was clocked and then the cylinders are skimmed as a pair. Now perfect. The jig plate can be used for YPVS cylinders if flipped over Fitted with new head and base gaskets and no more leak

If anyone wants their cylinders skimmed as a pair, drop me a pm and can give you Stuart's contact details. He is based in Rugeley. Cost would be Β£30 plus post.
Stuart can also skim heads and do rebores if you supply pistons.

Have noticed my barrels look uneven. When I get round to stripping the motor will look into why this is the case and maybe contact you for them details. Fantastic idea with the big plate.πππ

The plate was surface ground on both sides and is within one thou across both faces, so good for a reference surface.

Fitted chain and started bleeding brakes... Soon be test ride time. Also trying some of the ultra high temp JB Weld on the pitted downpipes.

That looks good. Should be real nice once painted.
I have a small ding on one of my lc pipes just at the hanger. I might give this stuff a go.

Those pipes were quite badly pitted on the headers, so be interesting to see if this JB Weld holds up. Might be a good fix for a few people.

I looked at a video on YouTube using this stuff on exhaust repairs and it looked like you just fill dents and cracks straight from the tub No mixing adhesive and hardener. I thought it would have been an epoxy mix but it is heat cured ! Intrigued to see how this works out for you.

Looking great. Is that the bodywork from the start of the build? Yes. They were painted ages ago. Only just got round to getting stickers done. Hopefully get finished in next few weeks.
