My mate Paul, who we built a 4L1 250 for, got asked by his mate if we could sort him a nice 4L0, so luckily I had a UK Matching numbers 4L0 project in bits, so started building it...

Paint looks so much better than powder coating.

No, they are only 15% uprated. I also extend the clutch actuator arm by 10mm which makes the lever easier to pull. :-)

Cut and shut plus some welding... Will post pics once this one is done. Makes the lever pull nice and easy. Just make sure you use an original Yamaha clutch cable.

I also extend the clutch actuator arm by 10mm which makes the lever easier to pull. :-) Hi Rob extending the actuator arm will give you less movement by the clutch plates for the same amount of travel on the clutch lever. How does this feel in reality? Do you feel any clutch drag as in a bit more clunky or difficult to select neutral?

How does this feel in reality? Do you feel any clutch drag as in a bit more clunky or difficult to select neutral? Difference in movement at plates went down from about 1.5mm to 1.2mm, but feel was a lot easier and smooth. My mates 250 has this mod done and he can get neutral fine. It looks like warped plates are the most likely cause of neutral issues, including the fibre plates, which I had never checked before.

Looking really good Rob. This is going to turn out really nice. Do you use a smear of sealant on your gaskets or do you fit them as is? My cylinders are still at PJME so got a bit of time before I need to use my new gaskets😉 John

I put nothing on head gasket, Yamabond on the reed block gaskets and reed blocks, and a smear of grease on the other gaskets.
