Hi Guys, I’m after some advice from you Guru’s regarding my carb set up on F1 31k My left hand pipe produces quite a bit more smoke then the right hand side especially at start up. I’ve recently had her on the Dyno with good results, the guy seemed to think left side was okay and has tried to bring the right hand side up on pilot and needle to match. I run stock non PJ VM26 Mikuni’s. Left side currently 27.5 pilot, needle clip at No2 position, air screw 1.3/4 turns out. Right side currently 3.0 pilot, needle No3 clip position, air screw 1.5. So my queries are - is it okay having staggered jetting and to what degree? Why does Left hand side smoke more than right hand side? The engine is fully rebuilt with approximately 1,500 miles on her, runs and sounds sweet. By the way I have mildly tuned barrels or so I’m told and run 430 mains, foam pod filters and new bespoke pipes.

I think they all smoke more on the left it’s something to do with it sitting on the side stand (I think) my RG does it as well im sure someone well tell me I’m talking shite though🤣

If you are running the oil pump it is common for one of the check valves to pass due to crud stuck in them
As the oil tank is higher it Syphon through and dump oil into the crankcase which causes one side to smoke more

If it was the RH side, it could also be the crank seal,I had this with a brand new seal, not Yamaha - buy cheap, buy twice but LH more than likely as above.

In the pump If you grip the round section the barbs go into and twist them the outlets come out The is a spring and a ball bearing that are pushed onto the valve seat Steve

Could also be dirt behind one ball and not the other...

No oil pump I’m running premix... back to Muttsnuts appraisal with staggered jetting, could the difference be a couple of Increments higher or lower depending?
