I'm sure a clean, rash free headlight trim ring 4L0-84315 (that's not attached to a mint bike) is rarer than unicorn sh!t at this point. Is there perhaps one off another model that will fit? Only one I can find for sale anywhere is wanting $250

Have you got an old rusty one? I had mine re-chromed, and it turned out lovely.

The one I have has a pretty bad spot of rash.

That is the problem when crashing the LC, the headlight tends to hit the tarmac and rash and oval the bezel, its one of the reasons the bezel has become hard to find I think.
I have managed to re-chrome them over the years but its been with limited success as often the chromers are a bit lazy and the chrome doesnt quite reach into the corners on the inside leading to rust forming, its that or trapped acid or something.
Some will also fix rash by filling but at that point the bezel is oval anyway and the costs are silly for that kind of resto by a pro it seems. Maybe thats just here tho... as usual pro services and parts prices differ depending on the market :/

I used an aftermarket headlamp rim on a standard shell with just a little opening of the screw holes Manufacturer was Xanadu, I remembered it as it was a daft name !

Odd thought (Beyond buying a Repro complete headlight assly) Headlight rim from a Car like a 80's Mini etc... Sure looks similar.

I'm thinking finding one with the top hook in the right place will be the challenge.

I thought some of them might have that, but yeah who knows...
I guess if a bike isnt going to be an all original resto that an aftermarket bezel is ok, depends on what level of resto people are going for. I have an aftermarket one thats been stripped and powdercoated (Thanks TruBrit!) on my 421. it fits pretty and probably the chrome is about as thick as yams cheapo 80s chrome, but well... Id not have put one on my resto bike...

Mine appears to’ve been lightly crashed prior to my stewardship, and I’ve managed to replace/repair all the other rashed bits ... footpeg rubbers, indicators, engine sidecovers, etc. Headlight trim is the last cosmetic bit other than paintwork No worries really, I’ll figure it out eventually

So it has to be a genuine one?

So it has to be a genuine one? Hell no, it doesn't need to be genuine. Bike (for now) will be standard chassis and cosmetics with motor tuned to the moon. Really don't care about genuine as long as it looks appropriate, fits and the price is right.
