Got history though, was in a bike mag yrs ago... well that increases the "value" Only thing that could now appear in, is Freecycle... Nice filler cap though.

I can see a lot of potential in that ! I like the way someone has fitted the oil tank on the right side, so effectively "back to front" ! The sum of the parts are 1k easily nowadays Go on Veg, you want a project Dusty

Doesn't say there is no engine number in the description
The fact there are none in the pic of the left side of the engine suggests it's aircooled cases as the number is on the right

I looked for how the front engine mounts had been narrowed for an LC engine, and realised the front engine mount is too wide for an LC. Jon

Well spotted Steve, they look like aircooled crankcases. The front mount casting gives it away, in the pic of the conrod with the left barrel removed. The rear mounts are standard aircooled on the frame too, which wouldn't line up with an Lc engine, as I found out on the Café racer build ! Dusty

There is a v5, just not in the current keepers name, "full receipt given " would imply to me that's not an issue, as you'd have trace on where its purchased from and whom, I'd ask for identity from the seller to verify where its sold from, address etc, but I'd be happy with that.

I wouldn’t take the chance far too easy to say it then suddenly it’s mislaid? And why isn’t it in his name does he have legal entitlement to sell it? Been burnt before when I was younger and spent my whole life dealing with unscrupulous little b*****ds kind of makes me cynical and then my younger brother is a convicted fraudster who pulled shit like this, and had people over so me I’m very wary if family will do you over I ain’t trusting anyone 😁

Im with Veg on this. Its really not difficult to send off the V5 and put something in your name. Takes only a couple of weeks normally and makes the seller look much more legit.who cares if its had 9 or 8 previous keepers at this point...

Old registration documents just used to pass Hans on sale.
However a V5 requires the seller to send it off and tear off the new owners green slip to show proof of ownership.
How come the seller to him didn’t do that?

See told you it was kosher ..... Really 😁. Anyway (he said back peddling) what if it hadn’t been? And having been shafted I agree I’m über paranoid. No need to back pedal at all Veg. if the seller hadnt been on here we'd not have heard the story and well, its on ebay and not on here so who knew?! This forum often picks ads apart so its not like its a surprise to see people wonder on here about it. I dont know how much effort it is to sort out the V5 these days. But surely the seller (the son) could have sent in his part or if he hasnt and youve been handed the full document then it could have been sent it in with a letter. At this point its up to the buyer who is one removed from that transaction to sort out which seems less than idea. People often say they are too busy to do things, making time to jot down a letter on a sheet of note pad paper and addressing an envelope takes no time at all... 5 mins at most. Cant find 5 mins over breakfast, watching tv in the evening or having a poo...? Just saying...

It's a piece of p1ss to get a v5 as long as it is still on the system which should be easily checkable by either doing an hip check on the reg or doing a dvla tax check
Fill in a form, pay £25 and after they check it's legit you get a v5

I should add that my n1 was from a deceased previous owner but I had a letter from DVLA stating their knowledge that the owner was dead and that although the v5 had his details on it he was not the registered owner
I sent it off the v5 with a note explaining why the old keeper hadn't signed the document. All came back fine
I've also sent off a v5 I signed the old keeper section in the original name and that came back fine
Also have a mate that picked up 2 lc's from a garage clearance. The owner had died many years ago
He filled in the form and sent them with the cheques.
Both v5's eventually turned up

If you have the V5 can't you just go onto the DVLA website and transfer it to yourself as the new keeper online. No need to send the V5 off and the new one will be with you in just a few days.

If you have the V5 can't you just go onto the DVLA website and transfer it to yourself as the new keeper online. No need to send the V5 off and the new one will be with you in just a few days. I had this problem, the V5 was not the latest type so the 11 digit number you have to fill in on the online form won't work, it looked like the only way I could do it online was to pay £25.00 for a new V5 in my name. Anyway I just filled the old V5 in and signed the old keeper bit with a scribble then put it in post box, few days later new one arrived 👍 I also bought a bike from a Mate who had passed away and got his wife to put her signature name and address in the old keepers section and posted it off myself to save her the hassle, that also came back a few days later without any problems 👍 I don't think they pay to much attention to detail and as long as it's signed dated etc there is normally no problem. The V5 is not proof of ownership anyway.
