Interesting question, does any one know where to buy the 2 bolts that hold the two caliper halves together
I know they are a flanged M10 x 1.25 x 45MM, however when trying to buy the thread length is too long at 26mm and 19mm shank
The genuine bolt is pretty much the reverse, 19mm thread 26mm shank, however Yamaha don't list a part number for them
The longer thread i feel will chew the caliper half it sits in, I could be being too fussy and just by them as they are
Any one have any ideas at all?
Cheers
Howard

I've just fitted a stainless set without worrying about the thread
Only other option is replating

F1 bolt is 90105-10363 tho it is supersceeded now. :/
I would rechrome them if you have some, or strip the chrome and bright zinc plate, it'll look like chrome for ages in climate.

Hi Steve I was going to down that path, however the thread length worries me on the top half of the caliper jon, yes i had thought of that, it's $120 min charge up to 5 kilo of bolts, guess which ones I didn't get plated cause I forgot about them, I'll look up the part number an see what comes up, if not i'll bead blast them and paint them black, half of them are plated black (I'm guessing Yamaha drab olive) the other ones are between rust and that BTW that part number is i think for the bolts that hold the caliper to the forks, judging by the picture on Partzilla as it is measured at 1 1/4" The part number is not in any online catalogue I can find Thanks guys

Ahh sorry Howard, I thought you meant the bolts to the forks for some reason. The caliper halves I always do green passivate.
Yamaha dont like us taking them out of calipers. But these calipers are fitted to other bikes so you could find new ones I expect somewhere. but a redo in green zinc means you can just bolt em in. will your guy help you out and just check 4 of them in with someone elses for you?

BTW, that black flexi glue I was telling you about was sent out Friday lunch time

no worries, cant promise a quick turn around as Jason dropped his zinc off today already, and im a few month away from dropping mine in, but will do em as soon as I can mate. maybe they should be black zinc but I always do them green and they look good. There are some I did for my 500 calipers:

This is what I love about people this forum
You meet people like Jon, and I have met him, had a beer or two with him too, emailed talked on the phone, you all know the drill
So I boxed up 22 caliper bolts (2 escaped the box, found them two days later) and about a dozen Banjo bolts
Just as they came out of the calipers, this is where it gets real good
Jon has got them degreased, put them in vinegar to eat out the rust and aluminium corrosion ready to send to his plater
He's about 5000km from me and then asks if I would like them Zinc, Black or Green
I wasn't expecting a choice
Jon you are a gentleman, I'll hold those brackets for you until you build up a bigger list, I just hope I'll have what you need
Thanks Pal and thanks to all who contribute to my questions too

Ahh, Im blushing here. Thanks guys!
Has to be said that one of the great things about this hobby is the people involved in it. We are 99% blokes and are mostly the same age group. Like our bikes we've all lived a bit of a life and do this as a diversion, not a job. I've yet to meet someone from here in real life who I didnt get on with and that says a lot I reckon, and I've chatted with and met a good few now all round the world... Tho I'll be in Glasgow in the UK summer... so yeah, the jury is still out on Steve haha.
Ive said it before and Im sure I'll say it again but without the forum none of our builds would be as good as they are. I've found plenty of people (including Howard and Steve) to be generous with their time and spares when I'm stuck and am happy to give back when I can.
Sure, bolts seem like simple and boring parts but get em right and it lifts the whole build up a notch. What's a bit of cleaning and dropping stuff off to help a mate out? no worries as the locals say here...

I thought Jimmy Saville was from Leeds or thereabouts

According to wikipedia he was born and died in Leeds... good riddance tho. I thought he was dodgy even as a kid when we watched his shows, couldnt say why I felt like that, just made my skin crawl. Now then, now then... {shiver}... This is the latest on the bolts lol Im not sure if anyone is reading this thread, but hey why not post the pic instead of sending it to Howard directly lol That was some of them, they have been de-greased, acid dipped and wire brushed to remove rust and old plating and now rinsed and coated in 'dry coat' to stop flash rusting. They are now ready to be taken in for plating. The rest are still bathing in vinegar and my garage smells like a UK chip shop, yum! one or two need a bit of paint stripper. Ive found couple with trashed threads (in the middle of the bolt) from rust, I expect some fluid leaked between the caliper halves and sat there eating the bolt. weird. Still usable tho i expect as its in the middle. Tho I doubt you'll build all of these calipers will you? Ok, You dont actually 'need' to do this pre work when dropping stuff at the platers, but I do it as Ive found that some things are rustier than others and taken longer in the cleaner/acid than others, plus some things need actual brushing etc. Plus you need to know if things are painted and the plater's solution wont get paint off. You need to understand that the plater wont do any detail work, they will just dip the lot for an amount of time. But some things will need a bit longer in the dip and also some serious agitation to clean up, but as 90+% comes up fine they way they do it and its easier you cant expect them to hand sort your stuff for the price etc. So, I do this work, its minimal effort really, in order to get the best stuff back from the plater. In the same way I also tidy up mullered axle heads and tap down the ruptured heads on JIS screws etc. As ever I spend my life turning crap into usable stuff and it works for me lol Anyway, Howard they will all be done today I hope and off to the platers early next week. It tee'd up and he's ready for them. Should be done within a couple of weeks after that. Next pic should be nice ready to use bolts. NB. I had a really good close look at the caliper bolts and they were defo dark green originally. The problem is that modern green died zinc isnt the same the old passivate, partly as my guy's silver is very bright and that tends to lighten the green a bit and in the light its lighter than you'd want, but in the dark it looks darker as no light is reflected by the silver under the green. Anyway, I'll put these in the 'black' tub, they should look good when on freshly redone calipers. NB2. If you look at the photo you can see a few different types of caliper bolt there. Look at the flange thickness and some look like they have washers but they dont etc. Also some of these are a '9' on them, some dont. Did you record which go with which caliper Howard? The Sumitomo's were the better quality unit and had different bolts to the late model fronts (dunno who made these, no one wanted to put their name on em as they were made very cheaply, thanks Yam San, sigh).

Yep, Not born and bred in Scotland but loved a bit of tartan and had a cottage up in Glencoe
The poor sods that bought it after he died can't live there as it was trashed and spray painted when all the paedo stuff came out
Every time they fix it they just trash it again
Drove by it a few weeks ago and it's still boarded up with a note on the door

Hi Jon
What a difference a day makes, thank you so much, great work
If I'd known to do that I would've, however I though the platers did this process albeit on a larger scale, you live and learn
Yes I noticed the 6 or 9 on the heads, some calipers came with the number others didn't, they all appear to be the same length, none had washers under them, they all came out as is
I look at it this way, if I have all calipers with numbers then that is good, and if I have the rest as spares without then that's good too
At least you know where to find spare F1 calipers if you need any
