I downloaded an electronic copy in Australia for $4. Not very collectible but it’s all there with instant gratification 😂

Couple of things that grated on me in the MCN write up Metal chassis plate on headstock, not on UK bikes its not, and those are touted as the ones to have. Stating Indian replica tanks are a good option

I bet its the old KAR designs pics yet again... I don't know, here's the picture. I would say thats a KAR Design drawing, possibly updated as it was around 7-8yrs old at least [1], but possibly not. You see that pic a lot with guys (journos mostly!) getting over excited about a modern one but its not a Yam thing and as much as we might like a modern LC, I dont think are fussed.... less so now that we've got the XSR sigh. 1 - Maybe Xavier knows? I expect hes been watching these come up in articles and online etc

As expected then Xavier. Quite why Yamaha dont seem to get as excited by Kar's sketches as we do is beyond me. It really wouldmt have taken much to make a modern LC, they even have a modern parallel twin engine they could use. ok its not a 2t but i dont think anyone expected that if we are honest.

Soon gave it up and back to Woodbines! 40 yrs eh? Still remember the trio of fresh out LC's flat to the knocker on the Kendal bypass. A real WTF!!! moment! And despite their age they still go and handle just as good! Cant remember anything 40yrs old with such a following in 1980??

If you let a young biker ride one they genuinely get a big kick out of them and start to wonder whats wrong with there A2 type bike. I bet there would be a lot of younger people riding them if they were not so expensive.

Very true matey but what with no 2 strokes being made here any more...no diesel is gonna deliver that power band surge is it? Guess we can all count ourselves lucky to be around when they first came out!

Alex Absolutely Alex, the only thing that comes close is a turbo, high revving 4t's have power bands but not like a 2T are they, we were the lucky generation.

Would I be right in saying that a YPVS is more like a turbo 4 stroke experience then? I've only ever owned a 4LO.

Would I be right in saying that a YPVS is more like a turbo 4 stroke experience then? I've only ever owned a 4LO. Technically speaking the exhaust on a 2t is like a turbo, it sort of does the same job, pushes extra mixture into the cylinder, though only best at a certain rev range, this is also helped by the exhaust port timing, as the power valve has the ability to move the exhaust port hight, it can lengthen the power spread. I had a RGV with dual stage exhaust valve, that had 2 power bands, 1 around 7k and another around 9k no standard turbo car I have been in has a power band as aggressive as a 2t, though I did have a escort RS turbo with hybrid turbo & other mods that was.

That’s the only reason why I built my gsx turbo just cause I needed that powerband although it’s a bit wild at times.
