Just restored a 81 rd350lc,engine rebuild.
Started bike up for the first time in 10years.
issues
will only tick over 3-4 thou revs with choke on,soon as i push it in it races then falls off and stalls. thought i got with removing carbs and cleaning slow jet out.
Its better,but not quite there,also found fuel leaking out of cab bowl over flow, so wonder if floats sticking.
Also when i set the throttle cable up on the pump, when the bike was ticking over the pulley hardly move in or out,if i adjust the cable above the pump i can see it working better, pulsing. But then when the bike is stood and i turn to full throttle the mark on the pulley is not inline then with the pin.
Its a proper Yamaha cable, but the carbs are off a 31k not 4LO-001
So bikes ticking over a bit better,got it to tic at 2000rev with choke in, notice fuel dipping out of bowl pipe
pump pulley not in lign
Any ideas please

Have you had the pump rebuilt and shimmed?

I suspect its more than the oil pump, could be air leak somewhere. To eliminate pump, test run it on pre-mix via a temp tank and take it from there.

Possibly more than one issue, my comment was in relation to the pump not pulsing on tickover.

using a fuel bottle.
pumps not been re shimmed, for whats its worth it was a runner before being stripped the bike

Sort one problem at a time I'd suggest. Send oil pump to Arrow for his magic.
In meantime use the fuel bottle with pre-mix to set up carbs. Check for air leaks, check main and pilot jetting, float heights correct, needle settings correct, carbs balanced, ensure float bowls not been switched over, choke circuit is clean, air correction circuit clean (balls out), air box and filter clean.

No mention of a pressure test on the engine either. Did you do one?
