Hi guys, I am going to be converting my 250LC to 350LC over the next 6 months or so. Prices for the neccasary parts seem to vary wildly from expensive to bloomin ridiculous. 2 350 engines on ebay at moment, one is £1200 and one is £2000! Can anyone give me some ballpark values for barells, head, carbs etc? I will happily pay an enthusiast a fair price but dont want to line some greedy gits pockets.
Thanks.

Cylinders would be £300 to £600+ depending on bore/condition. Head would be £80 to £150 depending on condition. Carbs would be £100 to £200.
Cheaper to get a 375 conversion from Fahron, but timescale can be lengthy...

Nothing wrong with converting, people have been doing it since the bikes were new.
Robs list is a good one, you'll need an oil pump (50 + a trip to arrow) as well as some pipes.

And an extra disc and caliper, a brake splitter and some very expensive horns and mounting bracket.
Alex
oh and some 350 side panel decals

Create a "sleeper" when you have converted it leave the 250 panels on and rub out 4L0 & 347 on the cyls and replace with 247 & 4L1 in heat proof epoxy cast letters (glued on with said epoxy)

.. And you will need different small end bearings, and new head gasket and base gaskets...

if its a standard 250 leave it as it is not worth changing to a 350 .. I have already got twin discs/std brake lines and twin horns just as it looks better to me, to be honest for my 7 mile summer commute the 250 is plenty, but somehow I feel I have the poor relation to the 350, weird huh?

To be honest a 250LC is still an insane bike to ride. Get the same rush as you do on a 350 except a fraction of a second slower...it's that power band thang!

I prefer originality so would keep it as a 250. If you want power there are plenty other options far quicker than any LC.

Alex I know, and they used to let 17 year olds on these things? I had a new 350 at 18 with the compo money from a smashed leg, spent 6 months in plaster and another 3 months in a caliper so missed most of 17. Passed test on a C70 then got the new 350
