I ask only as someone on the A/C forum has told us about an auction of all his stuff. This chap though has already got himself a tuned RD250 lump and I did ask him how he got it before the auction started.
Reply was...
I believe that to keep the lots to a sensible number, they sell off the bits and bobs from peoples estates on eBay beforehand - and I'm guessing Stan had accumulated quite a lot of stuff over the years. If anyone wants some SS race barrels I will put them in the for sale section. I think they might be a bit much for the road. Gary.
Anyway I Googled this and found no auction and no death listed. Anyone know something I don't?
Alex

Still very much alive and kicking. A fella on the aircooled forum was talking to him today on the phone ! Maybe the idea of selling stuff off before an auction is a generic thing, and not just from a deceased persons estate ? Dusty

First thing I did when I read Alex's initial post was to Google "is Stan Stephens dead"? Apparantly, he died in 2013. And not only that, he was living up near the North Pole So who is the imposter claiming to be a two stroke wizard living in Kent ? Good for business though. An artists work becomes more valuable once they croak, and this rumour means Stan gets to make even more money, and still breathe !! Maybe his wife will act as a Medium - her phone line to the afterlife is £5 a minute !! Dusty

...After reading Stan Stephens autobiography a few years ago when it came out, I always think of this when I hear his name now. And I didnt know that in the film, this version of "Minstrel Boy" is by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. :-) I wont spoil it for anyone who has not read Stans book, but all is explained on page 262 and 263 of "The Mechanic Who Got Lucky" by Stan Stephens. Steven. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Minstrel_BoyPS, I tried to put a link up to his book, but the two or three places I looked it now says "Currently unavailable."
