Hi,
Took my rdypvs for the first run up the road after a rebuild and it's cutting on one cylinder. Pull the choke out and fires up so it has to be fuel related. I'm going to have the carbs off but some ideas on what to look out for would be a great help.

Check the small balance pipe is fitted between the carbs Check the bowls are not mixed up, the bowl with the small hole in the bottom is the choke side Check the vac pipe from the pet tap is connected to the inside of the right hand carb Check for any air leaks

Hi, only just got around to looking at the carbs. Checked the float bowls, all pipes and connections look ok, no blockages. Reassembled and same issue. It's a real head scratched, it runs on one side, pull out the choke and it pops into life on both.

Did you remove the brass balls and clear out behind them

Hi all sorry for not responding to the suggestions offered. After far too long (being busy doing other shit) nI took the carbs of again and found the pilot jet solid with crud, cleared that out and now it is ticking over on both cylinders. It's still not right but "better than it was" It is definately running rich as it seems to be 4-stroking a lot on low throttle, both plugs look dark/oily and I've also noticed the left spanny warms up far quicker suggesting a misfire still on the right. I've just seen midlifecrisisRD comment about the balls? I took a lot of time on the float height setting so I'm pretty sure thats right.

Have you pushed out the emulsion tubes? there is often a load of muck in between these and the carb body, also make sure all the holes in the tubes are clear as well as the wee hole behind the brass ball..

Hi Marti,
the hole behind the brass ball is not something I've checked, I'd assumed being pressed in it wasn't designed to come out. I cleaned out all of the emulsion tubes, I'll get the carbs off again and have a look at the weekend. How do you get the balls out?

Hi mate, what you do is send the carbs off to Dave at mutts nutts, like I did and he'll refurbish them and come back spot on ,very reasonable price too.

If it doesn't run at low revs on one cylinder but does on choke that suggests a blocked pilot

there are several threads on how to get the balls out but if you don't have a small drill bit and a pillar drill it would be worth popping them in the post to Muttsnuts as the chaps say but check the pilot as Steve mentioned as it may be a quick fix..

Same problem removed balls now it's like the power jets don't work. Been sonic cleaned all clear balls sealed with thread lock
