Hi lads So I’ve been a member on here for well over 10 years now & seen some amazing bikes that built on here , some really talented lads on here , had my lc since 98 it was in a box of bits for well over 7 years , I gradually built it back up again with loads of help of the forum to what it is now but too be fair I allways fancied a lc hybrid , I’ve all ready got a pretty much standard N1 ,so in the summer after a chat with matt (yogi) I thought sod it I’ll give it a go but plan to keep it as simple as I can as I’m NO bike builder , I’m going rgv front end with a metechex arm to take rgv rear wheel I’ve already bought the forks, wheels , arm , brakes So here it goes with some pics , please feel free to offer advice if you see something that could be done better Or easier, my main aim at the minute is too get it back on its wheels so I can move it around the shed if need be Thanks Pete

so a few questions as you can see the forks have no holes for the horn bracket to bolt too , whats the score with this ? do you drill some out or remount them somewhere else , i do really like the horns on an lc on the front but must say i,m not keen on drilling it out.

Good luck with the build! You may have no option but to drill them out. If you don't fancy doing it a local engineers place will drill it for you.

Hi Pete
those look like 'Spondon 440's' yokes. I have some on my 4LO Hybrid, like you i wanted the horns mounted in the standard way, so i got 'Spondon 440' to drill and tap the yokes which he did perfectly. He also supplied spacers to make them sit away from the yokes.

I've drilled 2 now
I bottled it with the first set and got a local engineer to drill and tap the m8 holes
On the second set I was braver and drilled and tapped m6 holes so if I messed it up they could be saved with m8.
I then bolted the bracket on with spacers and an m6 bolt with an 8mm shoulder on it

Steve you got an pics please I’m tempted but if it goes wrong I’ll be in tears my main concern is if I get the spacing wrong they hit something then I’m in shit street . If I take them locally it probably be after Xmas & there just sit there

I'd have to pop out to the shed and check Steve

As long as you have a pillar drill and some taps you should be fine, measure then measure again, matts no good doesn’t know one end of a 4lo from the other.😁 Looking forward to this and having built a hybrid over 10 yrs ago I really wish I had bought a metmachex rather than using the rgv arm and dustys builds proved this for me they look so good without changing the geometry too much.

Veg I know what you mean with this I thought long & hard but in the end bit the bullet & went metmachex as I loved the look of it on my lc before I stripped it . Just don’t want too drill it wrong & make a mess of it 🤔

You will drill and tap it no problem it’s only aluminium like it’s been said before measure twice👍

Looking good Pete Why not contact Andy - Spondon440 - through the forum and send them to him for drilling and tapping ? If you are really concerned about doing it yourself, I'm sure Andy would do it for you. The twin horns are very much part of the Lc's DNA, definitely worth replicating on the new bottom yoke. Dusty

Dusty I think that’s what I’m going too do dusty 👍 On a different Note mate I’m sure you done a rgv / metmachex if so mate can you use standard spacers As I’ve got rear wheel with no spacers ?

Hi Yea, I've done 3 Met arms with Rgv wheels now. When you buy the arms from Metmachex they supply 2 spacers - 1 on the sprocket side and 1 between the caliper carrier and the swingarm. You can use the standard Rgv spacer between the wheel bearing and the carrier though. You could speak to Tamsyn at Metmachex and see if they can supply the spacers - they are very easy to deal with and friendly, or you can search for Tyga ally spacers as they supply them as an aftermarket upgrade so you can bin the steel standard Rgv spacers. Just took a couple of pics for you. Sprocket side; 20191208_210156 by dusty miller, on Flickr Caliper side; 20191208_210137 by dusty miller, on Flickr And a Tyga spacer on the right against a standard Rgv wheel to carrier spacer; 20191208_210414 by dusty miller, on Flickr Metmachex now do standard/general engineering jobs so one offs shouldn't be a problem, although what you need is what they supply with the swingarms Dusty

Forgot to add, make sure you get a chain slider on the swingarm if there isn't one already fitted. Unfortunately, the slider supplied by Metmachex for an Rgv wheel in an Lc arm is a generic item, and the mounting holes are in the wrong place to allow the slider to fit in the position it needs to be (one mounting hole sits over the edge of the arm !) So these arms come with no Rivnuts fitted to the arm. I worked out where the Rivnuts needed to be, then worked out a shape for a chain slider, bought a chopping board from a pound shop and cut and shaped it to fit. My local engineering guys drilled and fitted the 2 Rivnuts for £20, and it lines up perfectly; 20190818_115201 by dusty miller, on Flickr And regards wear - last weekend I saw my old Lc I built and sold last year, and that has nearly 800 miles on a chopping board chain slider, and there is no groove worn into it at all, and the chain is in constant contact with it, so a decent board will work well Dusty

Thanks dusty your a bloody star , them pics are really helpful thanks for doing that mate 👍 yes I used an old chopping board on my old metmachex arm like you said works a treat , also Thanks for the reminder as I’ll end up taking to bits again once assembled 😊👍
