I think you are right Veg. It was also a Readers Special in Performance Bikes magazine, before the paint job ! I think DYMO sponsored different riders in the Straightliners series. Bill Hunter certainly was sponsored by them, not sure if Steve Burns was ?? Dusty

By 'eck, as soon as I read Bill Hunter all I thought of was the Bike Mag headline "Little Red Booster"! Bet Dusty has a scan of the front cover.

I never bought "Bike" magazine, but I did sometimes buy "Superbike" and they ran the Straightliners series. I always remember the rivalry between Bill and Steve Burns. I believe Steve lives in Australia now, the warm weather is kinder to his knackered bones. 80641676_10217852184309662_8208524243231571968_o[1] by dusty miller, on Flickr I think that is Mark Forsythe on Steve's bike. Yep Forsyth alright I was a big fan of his, remember him racing an 851. I loved PB in the day remember buying the first issue and they had a moriwaki z1 and a Ducati tt 2 . I used to love the little booklets they gave out full of turbo 4βs and race tuned strokers bloody good time to be into bikes.

Yes mate but LOOK at it! Even in the 80's this was sodding awful Alex (referring to the ghastly paint job/meccano bike btw)

Wow! Looks like a Kwak triple in there. A flat tracker but with a rear disc? Bonkers and so cool all at the same time!

Sprocket and Disc are opposite to the 350B

Maybe the one in the foreground is for left handed ovals, and the one behind has been built for right handed tracks !! Dusty

What a beautiful flat tracker. No wonder it is a style copied by many when building specials. Like hblair, i am intrigued by the bike at the back and it would be nice to see it too, and the motor in it. It got me thinking what it might be with a chain drive on the right and those cooling fins on the head and thought of this images.app.goo.gl/LG1pyTU943EeD2xB7I might be wrong but it fits the bill. A hideous thing but a 2stroke twin none the less and they do have a proven track record with their speedway 4 stroke singles. maybe someone has worked wonders with this

Yeah, I see it now. Defo a Yamaha. Must be a real early one.
Well done Dusty on another great find.

Might be earlier than that, isnβt it a crank mounted clutch?

I just Googled "early Yamaha 2 stroke twin". Loads of images - the one that looked the closest was the YDS6, but I'm no expert so it may well be something else. Dusty
