I’m sure I have seen number 6 before I could be wrong but got a feeling it may be a french bike sponsored by gauloises or similar. I’m pretty sure it’s a 7/750 not a 500. It’s interesting that’s for sure. You could well be right Veg as i have a brain like a sieve 🤪, let me see if I can find out 👍 Apologies Veg, I asked the owner of the actual bike(s) in the picture and he confirmed it's a factory 750. It was one of his others he showed me that was a factory 500 bike, unreal huh .

Wow no apologies needed buddy. I’m sure I’d seen it before. It’s not the french bike I was thinking of then? I got it wrong as I first thought tz700 but Johnny soon put me right. Whatever it is it’s beautiful and like dusty it would be a lottery bike for me. That’s what I love about here we are all just trying to help each other out. 👍

Its great you know the owner! Many thanks for finding out.
its always difficult with these old race bikes as most of them have had a hard life and parts replaced as to the funds allowed.
every day is a school day
Best regards Johnny C.

Why did they go to the trouble of routing one of the pipes behind the carbs onto the the side of the bike why not have 2 pipes either side. Seems like a lot of extra work plus putting all that hot air off the pipe in the way of cool air being sucked into the carbs when 2 strokes I belive run better in cooler air. It does look good though Rich

Too wide if you look the pipes under the bike are staggered too keep the width down one pipe is lower than the other 2. By you couldn’t put 2 above 2 as again it’ll impact on ground clearance both height and cornering. One of the problems was the heat interference on the carbs, hence why, The slightly later version had the 2 outer pipes/barrels/carbs reversed so carbs on the outer cylinders stick out the front with pipes rear facing it was still an in line 4, shortly afterwards they went to V4 which lent it self to pipes being in the right place.
