And so it begins Had a little thrash round on the Ypvs the other day and decided to do some work on it when I got back. 2 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr 25 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr All just test fitting at the moment. 26 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr 27 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr 28 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr It's looking pretty good so far. Need to get a good straight edge to check everything get it all lined up and spacers sorted. Looks like the standard swing arm will be fine but will need caliper mounting sorting. 29 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr

Little bit more done today :- 31 by Gary Woodward, on Flcker 32 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr 33 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr 34 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr I think i'm going to go with a mainly standard build (apart from colour) with a few period mods on this one. Decent set of pipes and seriously considering a Metmachex swing arm.

A few parts cleaned and repainted yesterday. 36 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr The pile of parts waiting to go to Powder coaters is growing although a couple of the parts in this pic have been painted now so they won't be going. 35 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr

37 by Gary Woodward, on Flickr Another piece of the jigsaw done. This cover had been sprayed (badly) with satin black and the sanding marks could be seen. It has now been stripped of paint then 1200 grade wet & dry to clean it up & finally sprayed with Simoniz gloss black engine enamel.

Hi mt, Decided to keep the bike standard then? Jon Standard...ish but with non standard colours. Should be collecting the frame & wheels from powder coating later this week so can get started putting the rolling chassis back together then rebuilt the motor. Gary

I’m not sure what type of bike your used to? But I can only offer a bit of information to help you decide one way or the other.
I had a 3 year old F2 back in the day as my daily drive. I loved that bike.
Anyway some years ago I got a tatty 250LC and proceeded to build a hybrid with TZR running gear. Again I love riding that to this day.
A few years ago I bought a ten footer F2. Perhaps nostalgia? Anyway after a 5 year rebuild, I took it for an MOT a few weeks ago.
Apart from a few teething problems, which are now fixed; the handlebars were chalk and cheese to the LC.
So much so I think I’ll have to invest in adjustable 3” riser clipons for close to £300 to make it an option to take out for a ride.
Just a thought while you have the chance.

P.s. love the idea of a standardish build.
I’m usually a hardcore hybrid man, but my F2 is completely standard apart from KR paint, Triumph calipers and Microns.
Now I’ve done as close to standard, as I can do; it’s back to the sky’s the limit LOL.

Currently riding a Vfr800 as my main bike. This one will have none standard pipes and a rather extravagant Metmachex arm when it’s ready to collect. Gary

Thanks I'm sort of working to a plan but getting a few bits done most days. I'd like to get a rolling chassis somewhere near before really starting on the engine. It's all the little cleaning and repainting jobs that take so long. Not building a show bike just a very clean & tidy bike. Waiting for the swing arm so I can put the suspension and wheels in. I'm going to hang on to the Mt front and rear ends for now as I might use them on another one later.

The powdercoat looks mint I like the blue wheels. Dusty Went to Triple S in Bingley this time for Powder Coating as he only does bike parts and has been doing it for over 30 years. I have the final colour scheme planned but I’m not revealing it until the end 😁
